It is with heavy hearts and profound sadness that we announce the passing of Sandra Denise Watkins-Harvey, who departed this life on July 5, 2026, at the age of 69. Sandra was born on November 2, 1956, in the vibrant city of Chicago, Illinois, to her beloved parents, Addie Bell Watkins and Isaiah Watkins. Sandra was a beacon of light and love, known for her generous heart and unyielding spirit. She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and friend who touched the lives of many with her warmth and kindness. Her family was the center of her universe, and she cherished every moment spent with them. Sandra united in marriage with her loving husband, Thorton J. Harvey, with whom she shared a beautiful life. She was the proud mother of her son, Churron Randolph, and the doting grandmother to her cherished grandson, Amir Black. Sandra’s love for her family extended to her large and loving circle of siblings, including her sisters, Alise Dean, Rosemary Smothers, Karen Kemp, and Felicia Watkins, and her brothers, Sam Houston, Bill Watkins, and Richard Watkins. Her family was further enriched by her goddaughter, Tasha Calvey, and her best friend and sister in spirit, Shernise Tyler. Sandra was predeceased by her parents, Addie B. Watkins and Isaiah Watkins, her beloved daughter, Sheena J. Harvey, and her brothers, Isaiah (Pookie) Watkins and Keith (Skiddy) Watkins. Though they have passed, their memories live on in the hearts of those who loved them. Her life was filled with joy and a deep commitment to helping others. Sandra had a remarkable talent for organizing and planning events, bringing people together to celebrate life's milestones. She was a wizard on computers, using her skills to assist friends and family, and she was known as the #1 fan of Pepsi, a small testament to her vivacious personality. Sandra was an active and devoted member of both Sion Temple COGIC and Liberty Temple COGIC, where she found solace and community. Her faith was an integral part of her life, guiding her actions and inspiring those around her. A celebration of Sandra's life will be held on July 18, 2026, at 10:00 a.m. at Liberty Temple located at 5230 Halstead St, Chicago, Illinois. Family and friends are invited to gather in remembrance and honor the remarkable woman Sandra was. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made in Sandra’s memory to a charity of your choice. Sandra Denise Watkins-Harvey leaves behind a legacy of love, compassion, and unwavering dedication to her family and community. She will be deeply missed but forever remembered by all who had the privilege of knowing her. Her spirit will continue to shine brightly in the hearts of those she loved.
