Sandra "Sandy" Bruso, a beloved mother, grandmother, and friend to many, passed away peacefully on July 13, 2026, at the University of Vermont Medical Center, after a brief illness. She was surrounded by the love of her family during her final moments, reflecting a life that was rich in love and cherished connections. Born on June 29, 1958, in Burlington, Vermont, Sandy was the daughter of the late Howard and Betty Longway. Preceded in death by her parents, she is survived by her four daughters: Chrystal, Nicole and her husband Brett, Bethany and her husband Nathan, and Alicia and her husband Kevin. Sandy was the proud and devoted grandmother of four grandchildren: Kaitlyn, Jasmine, Nathan, and Marolyn, who lovingly knew her as "Nana." Sandy graduated from Essex High School in Essex Junction, Vermont, in 1976. She moved to Vergennes, Vermont in 1984 where she build a life and raised four wonderful daughters with Dennis Bruso. Sandy's dedication to her family remained steadfast and unwavering. Professionally, Sandy spent 16 joyful years working at the Vermont Teddy Bear Factory, where her love for creativity and craftsmanship flourished. She later co-owned and worked at East Coast Printers as a commercial embroidery specialist, where she continued to leave her mark on the community with her skillful artistry. Sandy was an active volunteer with the Make-A-Wish Foundation of Vermont, often contributing through her involvement with the Vermont Symphony Orchestra. Her commitment to making dreams come true for those in need was a testament to her generous spirit. A woman of many passions, Sandy loved traveling and embarking on weekend getaways, often finding solace and joy in the farm life of Bethany’s family. She never missed her grandchildren's games and activities, always their most enthusiastic supporter. Sandy delighted in reading, baking cookies, and crafting gingerbread houses, activities that brought her family together, especially during the holidays. Her love for Disney was legendary, and she made countless trips to Disney World, sharing the magic with those she loved. Known for her playful spirit, Sandy was a "Secret Santa" throughout the year, spreading joy and kindness wherever she went. Her adventurous nature led her to unexpected experiences, such as showing a cow for the first time last year at the Addison County Fair. Sandy's family wishes to express their heartfelt gratitude to the compassionate staff at the University of Vermont Medical Center for their exceptional care and support. Sandy faced her illness with bravery and resilience, surrounded by her family who cherished her deeply. In honor of Sandy's memory, donations may be made to the Make-A-Wish Foundation of Vermont, an organization close to her heart. The family invites everyone to celebrate Sandy's life by keeping the child within them alive and enjoying a Disney film with their loved ones this evening, a tribute to Sandy's enduring legacy of joy and wonder.
