January 11, 1944 — October 12, 2026
Samuel "Sam" Nino, a beloved husband, father, brother, and friend, peacefully departed this world on October 12, 2026, at the age of 82. Born on January 11, 1944, in Odem, Texas, Sam lived a life rich with love, laughter, and service. He was the cherished son of Santiago Nino, Sr. and Eva Palacios, both of whom predeceased him, along with his siblings Aurora Nino-Garcia and David Nino.
Sam leaves behind his devoted wife, Andrea, and her children from a previous marriage, whom he embraced as his own. He is also survived by his beloved sons, Alex Nino and Sammy Nino, and his siblings Dan Nino, Hope Morales, Olivia Wade, Eva Pantle, Noah Nino, Lydia Nino, and Ernest Nino, all of whom will miss him dearly.
In his youth, Sam answered the call of duty and served honorably in the United States Army from 1957 to 1961. Stationed at Fort Polk, Louisiana, and Fort Sill, Oklahoma, he proudly served a tour in South Korea during the early 1960s. His military service was marked by his achievement as a professional Marksman, a testament to his dedication and skill.
Following his military service, Sam embarked on a career at the Delta Airlines Reservation Department, where he worked diligently for many years before retiring in the 1980s. His colleagues remember him as a man of integrity and camaraderie.
Deeply committed to his faith, Sam was an active member of Kingsway Church in Beeville, Texas. He shared the Gospel of Jesus Christ with unyielding passion, often ministering in the South Texas area. His faith was not only a personal journey but a light he shared with everyone he met.
Sam's warmth and humor were infectious. Known for his quick wit and warm smile, he had a unique ability to make everyone feel welcome and valued. He was always ready with a joke or prank to lift spirits and create connections. He had a gift for seeing the best in people and bringing them together.
An avid fisherman, Sam found joy in the pursuit of the perfect fishing spot, a pastime that mirrored his love for "fishing for men" in the spiritual sense. Every cast of his line was a reminder of his patience and hope.
In lieu of a public service, a private funeral ceremony will be held, honoring Sam's wishes. The family kindly requests that donations be made to a charity of choice in Sam's memory, reflecting his generous spirit and commitment to helping others.
The Nino family extends heartfelt gratitude to the staff at the AVIR Nursing Home for their compassionate care. Special thanks to those who were directly associated with Sam's care, providing comfort and love in his final days.
Sam's legacy of love, laughter, and faith will forever remain in the hearts of those who were blessed to know him. His memory is a guiding light, reminding us to live with kindness and joy.
