Samuel Raymond Wright, JR.
April 23, 1950 — June 21, 2026
With heavy hearts and profound gratitude for a life well-lived, we announce the passing of Samuel Raymond Wright, JR., who peacefully transitioned from this world on June 21, 2026, after a courageous battle with cancer. Born on April 23, 1950, in Brooklyn, NY, Samuel graced this world with his presence for 76 years, leaving behind a legacy of kindness, wisdom, and unyielding love.
Samuel was the cherished son of the late Samuel Wright, SR, and Joyce Wright, who instilled in him the virtues of respect and compassion that would define his character. Predeceased by his beloved sister Brenda Wright, nephew Kirk Wright, and former wife Doris Wright, Samuel joins them in eternal peace. He was also preceded in death by his dear wife, Doris Barrett, with whom he shared 14 years of marriage and the joy of raising a beautiful daughter.
A devoted family man, Samuel is survived by his sibling, Robin Wright, and his loving children: daughter Shamecca Wright-Candelario, son Miles S. Wright, and daughter Danielle Wright. His spirit and values live on through his grandchildren, Rameek Candelario, Malik Candelario, Lykinius H. Wright, Scarlet M. Wright, and Natalie J. Wright; and his great-grandchildren, Simaya Candelario, Yasin Candelario, and Asiyah Candelario. Samuel also leaves behind a devoted son-in-law, Richie Candelario, who shared a special bond with him.
In 1997, Samuel found a spiritual home as an ordained Deacon in a cherished church in North Carolina, where he served with humility and grace. His commitment to community was further exemplified through his active membership in the Masons of Brooklyn, NY, where he forged friendships that lasted a lifetime.
Samuel possessed an insatiable curiosity for Black history and the origins of his people, a passion he pursued throughout his life. Born in the 1950s, he often reflected on the changes he witnessed and contributed to, offering wisdom and perspective to all who sought his counsel.
His charm and warm demeanor endeared him to the staff at Brooklyn Gardens Rehab and Kings County Hospital during his final days. The family extends heartfelt thanks to these compassionate caregivers who provided comfort and dignity in his last chapter.
Samuel Raymond Wright, JR. will be remembered for his politeness, his ability to touch the hearts of those he met, and the enduring love he held for his family and community. His legacy will continue to inspire and guide those who had the privilege of knowing him.
A service to celebrate Samuel's remarkable life will be held at [Funeral Service Details], where friends and family will gather to honor his memory and the indelible mark he left on this world. In lieu of flowers, the family invites donations to [Charity/Organization Name] in honor of Samuel’s passion for education and history.
Rest in peace, dear Samuel. Your journey continues, and your spirit remains with us always.
