Samuel lee Kennedy
September 24, 1968 — July 9, 2026
With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of Samuel Lee Kennedy, a beloved husband, father, and grandfather, who departed this life on July 9, 2026, after a courageous battle with cancer. Born on September 24, 1968, in Rolla, Missouri, Sam lived a life full of dedication, love, and humor.
Sam was the cherished son of Jerry and Tammy Kennedy, who instilled in him the values of hard work and integrity. These values guided him throughout his remarkable 42-year career as a police officer. Sam spent the majority of his career serving his community and state with honor as a highway state patrol officer in Missouri. His commitment to the safety and well-being of others was unwavering, and his legacy of service will be remembered by all who knew him.
Sam's life was enriched by his loving family. He is survived by his devoted spouse, Joann Sanders, who stood by his side through every challenge and triumph. He was a proud father to his daughter, Laura Harris, and a caring stepfather to Jeremy and Amber Davis. His love extended to his four grandchildren, who were a source of immense joy and pride for him.
Beyond his professional life, Sam was a man of many passions. He found peace and enjoyment in the great outdoors, whether he was fishing, hunting, or riding his motorcycle. Sam was known not only for his culinary skills but also for his infectious humor, always ready with a joke to lighten any moment. His faith was a cornerstone of his life, and he found great comfort in discussing the Bible and worshiping God.
A service to celebrate Sam's life will be held on August 1, 2026, at 9:30 AM at the Morgan Moran Funeral Home in Rolla, Missouri. Family, friends, and community members are invited to gather in remembrance of a man who touched so many lives with his kindness and dedication.
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made to a charity of your choice in Sam's honor, reflecting his spirit of giving and service to others.
Sam will be deeply missed, but the love he shared and the differences he made in the lives of those around him will endure forever. May he rest in peace, knowing he was profoundly loved and respected.
