Sammie Luther Bright
April 30, 1955 — April 7, 2026
It is with heavy hearts and profound sadness that we announce the passing of Sammie Luther Bright, who departed this world on April 7, 2026, at the age of 70. Sammie was born on April 30, 1955, to Mildred and Sammie Bright, and he spent his life as a beacon of love, kindness, and dedication to family and friends.
Sammie's life was a testament to the values instilled in him by his beloved parents. He was a devoted and loving father to his daughters, Tanika Jones, Kristen Bright Burrell, and Charice Bright, who were his pride and joy. His role as a grandfather brought him immense happiness, and he cherished every moment spent with his grandchildren, Keenen Winans, Bailey Bright, Blake Jones, and Peace Bright Burrell. They were the light of his life and the legacy he proudly leaves behind.
Sammie's love for his family was paralleled only by his passion for fishing, a hobby that allowed him moments of peace and reflection amidst nature's beauty. His gentle spirit and warm smile were magnetic, drawing people in and making them feel instantly at ease. Family gatherings were a staple in Sammie's life, and he thrived in the company of his siblings: Stella Jane Bright, Dorine Bright Johnson (Randy), Joseph Ricky Bright (Phylis), Benjamin Bright, Yolanda (Lala) Bright, Calandra T. Bright, Veronica Bailey Smith, Gary Bailey (Susan), Tarry Bailey (Rada), and Denise (Kitten) Raymond (Lonzie Jr.). Each sibling held a special place in his heart, and together they created a tapestry of love and support that carried Sammie through life's journey.
Sammie's mother, Mildred Bright, survives him and, throughout his life, was a source of unwavering support and inspiration. The strength of their bond was evident to all who knew them, and Sammie often spoke of the gratitude he felt for her enduring love and guidance.
The family extends their deepest appreciation to all who have offered support and condolences during this difficult time. Sammie's life will be celebrated on April 21, 2026, at Newcomer Cremations, located at 235 Juneau Dr, Louisville, KY 40243. Services will begin at 10:00 a.m., where family and friends will gather to honor his memory and share stories of a life well-lived.
Though Sammie has left this earthly plane, his legacy of love, laughter, and kindness will continue to live on in the hearts of all who had the privilege to know him. He leaves behind a world made better by his presence and a family forever grateful for the time they shared with him. As we mourn his loss, we also celebrate the indelible mark he left on our lives, comforted by the knowledge that his spirit will forever be with us.
Rest in peace, dear Sammie. You will be deeply missed and forever cherished.
