In Loving Memory of Sammy L. Wade Sammy L. Wade, a beloved father, grandfather, brother, and friend, passed away peacefully on August 9, 2026, at the age of 77. Born on October 6, 1948, in Walterboro, South Carolina, Sam lived a life rich in experiences and relationships. Sammy was the cherished son of Herbert Sr. and Clara Mae Wade, who instilled in him the values of hard work, integrity, and compassion. He was predeceased by his parents, his brother Ernest Wade, and his sister Anna-Rel Salley, whose memories he always held close to his heart. A devoted father, Sammy leaves behind his sons, Derrick Wade Sr. and Che Wade, along with his daughter-in-law, Danielle Wade his favorite niece Malik and a host nephews, nieces and cousins. His legacy continues through his cherished grandchildren: Derrick Wade Jr., Maya Wade, Darian Wade, and Mia Wade, whom he adored and who brought immense joy to his life. Sam was a brother to Ronald Wade and Herbert Wade Jr., with whom he shared countless memories and a bond that only siblings can understand. He also leaves behind his ex-wife, Judy Wade, with whom he shared many years of his life. Throughout his career, Sam was known for his dedication and strong work ethic. He spent many years driving trucks for various companies, a testament to his reliability and commitment. His professional life was marked by the respect and admiration of his colleagues. A member of the Oakkman Branch Baptist Church, Sam took pride in being part of a community that his parents and many family members also cherished. His faith and commitment to his church were cornerstones of his life. In his leisure time, Sam enjoyed watching television and engaging in spirited debates with family and friends. Known for his cool and laid-back demeanor, he was a source of wisdom and support, always ready to offer honest advice and guidance. His ability to "tell it like it is" earned him the respect and love of those around him. Sam's life was a testament to the power of kindness, wisdom, and authenticity. His presence will be deeply missed by all who knew him, but his spirit will continue to live on in the hearts of his family and friends. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made in Sammy's memory to a charity of the Oakman Branch Baptist Church. May he rest in peace, forever cherished and never forgotten.
