October 23, 2003 — July 29, 2026

It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Samantha Victoria Mencia, who left this world far too soon on July 29, 2026, at the tender age of 22. Born on October 23, 2003, in Rocky Mount, North Carolina, Samantha was a beacon of light and hope to all who knew her. Her life, though brief, was filled with love, laughter, and a deep commitment to caring for others. Samantha was the cherished daughter of Hollie Aycocke of Lucama, North Carolina, and Roney Mencia of Tegucigalpa, Honduras. She is survived by her devoted parents, as well as her loving grandparents, Donna and James Burnette of Rocky Mount. She was predeceased by her great-grandmother, Mary Frances Poland, whose memory she always held dearly in her heart. A proud graduate of Nash Central High School in 2022, Samantha pursued her lifelong dream of becoming a nursing assistant in 2024, a calling she felt deeply since she was just 12 years old. Her dedication to helping others was evident in her every action, and her compassionate nature touched the lives of patients and colleagues alike. Samantha possessed an unparalleled zest for life, marked by her infectious laughter and unwavering optimism. Those who had the privilege of knowing her will remember her as a young woman full of kindness, empathy, and a genuine spirit that could brighten any room. Her passion for nursing was matched only by her love for her family and friends, whom she cherished deeply. A service to celebrate Samantha's life will be held on July 29, 2026. Family, friends, and all whose lives were enriched by Samantha's presence are invited to gather and honor her memory. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made to a charity of your choice, reflecting Samantha's generous and giving nature. As we say goodbye to Samantha, we take comfort in knowing that her spirit will continue to inspire those who were fortunate enough to be touched by her warmth and compassion. Her legacy of love and care will forever remain in our hearts, reminding us to live each day with kindness and grace.
