In Loving Memory

Sam Willoughby
July 18, 1954 — October 1, 2022
It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Sam Willoughby, a beloved husband, father, grandfather, and friend, who departed this life on October 1, 2022, at the age of 68. Born on July 18, 1954, in the United States, Sam's journey through life was a testament to hard work, dedication, and love for his family.
Sam was a proud graduate of Sabine High School, where he first began to shape the values and work ethic that would guide him throughout his life. After school, Sam embarked on a career in the East Texas oilfields, a field that demanded resilience and strength. Later, he transitioned to the trucking industry, where he thrived as an owner-operator until his well-earned retirement.
Sam's life was enriched by his deep love for his family. He shared 49 wonderful years of marriage with his devoted wife, Toni Lynn Todd Willoughby, who resides in Liberty City. Together, they built a life centered around their three cherished daughters and their families: Melinda and Daniel Domain of Waxahachie, Jamie and Kenne Thomas of Longview, and Samantha and Brandon Shipman of Liberty City.
In addition to his wife and daughters, Sam leaves behind his dear mother, Shirley Hester Willoughby of Kilgore, and his brothers, Forrest and Mickey Willoughby of Keithville, Louisiana, and Clyde and Tami Willoughby of Liberty City. He was a proud grandfather to four grandchildren, Kaylee Chase of Carthage, Olivia Domain of Waxahachie, and Dominik and Braden Shipman of Liberty City, as well as great-grandfather to Rocky and Kaden Jackson of Carthage.
Sam's life was filled with simple joys, one of which was the companionship of his beloved dogs, Harley, Murphy, and Sadie, who remained faithfully by his side.
A service to honor and celebrate Sam's life will be held on October 8, 2022, at 10:00 a.m. at Rader Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made to a charity of your choice, in memory of Sam's generous spirit.
The family wishes to extend their heartfelt gratitude for the support and condolences they have received during this difficult time. Sam's legacy of love, strength, and kindness will forever remain in the hearts of those who knew and loved him.
