Sally J. Benintendi

November 20, 1936 — August 19, 2026

It is with heavy hearts and profound gratitude for a life well-lived that we announce the peaceful passing of Sally J. Benintendi on August 19, 2026. Sally was surrounded by the love of her devoted husband and cherished children as she embarked on her final journey. Born on November 20, 1936, in Portsmouth, Scioto County, Ohio, Sally was the beloved daughter of James Knox and Margaret Grace Hansee. A woman of great warmth and generosity, Sally dedicated her life to nurturing her family and community. She married the love of her life, Robert S. Benintendi, on June 29, 1963, and together they shared 63 wonderful years of marriage. Their union was blessed with six children: Robert F. Benintendi (Laurie), Christopher A. Benintendi (Jill), Kelly E. Misleh (Mike), John K. Benintendi (Nicole), Steven W. Benintendi (Jessica), and Brian Benintendi (Amy). Sally's legacy of love extends to her 18 grandchildren and 8 great-grandchildren, who were the light of her life. A proud graduate of the Christ Hospital College of Nursing, Sally worked as a registered nurse before devoting herself entirely to her family. Her dedication to education and community was evident in her service as the President of the Georgetown Exempted Village School Board during the 1980s. Sally was also known for her passion for playing bridge and cherished the gatherings with her friends and former high school classmates. Sally's home was a sanctuary of warmth and acceptance, where all were welcome, and her acts of kindness extended far beyond her immediate family. She touched the lives of many with her unwavering generosity and compassion, leaving an indelible mark on all who had the privilege to know her. Sally is predeceased by her siblings, John Bob Taylor, Elizabeth Ann (Betty) Lorance, Mary Margaret Hansee, James K. Hansee, and her parents, James Knox and Margaret Grace Hansee. Her loving spirit will continue to be celebrated by her surviving family, including her dear husband Robert, her children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and countless friends and neighbors. A celebration of Sally's life will be held on August 26, 2026, at 11:00 AM at St. Veronica Catholic Church, located at 4473 Mount Carmel-Tobasco Rd, Cincinnati, OH 45244. The family wishes to extend their heartfelt gratitude to the staff at the Cottages of Dupree for their exceptional care during Sally's stay, and to Cahall Funeral Home for their compassion and support. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital in memory of Sally's enduring love and generosity. The Benintendi family would also like to express their deepest appreciation to all who knew and loved Sally, with special thanks to the Gardner family—Herb, Betty, Larry, and Lynn—for their unwavering friendship and support. Sally J. Benintendi's life was a testament to love, kindness, and the simple joys of family and friendship. Her legacy will live on in the hearts and lives of those she touched, and she will be deeply missed by all.
