September 11, 1942 — May 22, 2026

It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Sally Ann (Meyer) Ryan, a beloved mother, grandmother, sister, and friend, who departed this world peacefully at home on May 22, 2026, at the age of 83. Born on September 11, 1942, in Nassau, New York, Sally was a beacon of warmth and kindness whose life touched all who knew her. Sally was the cherished daughter of John and Edna Meyer, both of whom preceded her in death, along with her beloved husband, William G. Ryan, her sister, Janet C. (Meyer) Ryan, and her brother, Ronald "Max" Meyer. In her early years, Sally developed a passion for crafting which became a hallmark of her life. Talented and meticulous, Sally’s hands crafted countless quilts, each a testament to her generosity and the love she held for those around her. These quilts, gifted to family and friends, remain as enduring reminders of her warmth and creativity. Sally was known for her remarkable ability to make everyone feel welcome and valued, a gift she shared freely and naturally. Her kindness and generosity were the cornerstones of her character, and she leaves behind a legacy of compassion and love that will be remembered by many. She is survived by her devoted sons, Jeffrey Smith, married to Amanda, and Michael Smith, married to Deborah. She was a proud grandmother to numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren, each of whom was the light of her life. Her siblings, John (Peggy), Leon (Karen), Kenneth (Kathy), and her sister-in-law, Eleanor Meyer, along with her nieces and nephews, will forever cherish the memories of their times spent with Sally. The family would like to extend their deepest gratitude to Karen and Leon, whose compassionate care and support were invaluable during Sally’s final days. Sally’s life will be celebrated and remembered by all who were fortunate enough to know her. As we say goodbye, we hold on to the many ways she enriched our lives and the lessons she taught us through her unwavering love and selflessness. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that donations be made in Sally’s memory to a charity of your choice, in honor of her generous spirit and her commitment to helping others. Sally will be dearly missed, but her spirit will forever live on in the hearts of those she touched. May she rest in eternal peace.
