In Loving Memory

Ruthy Bryant
April 17, 1934 — April 2, 2026
It is with heavy hearts and profound gratitude for a life well-lived that we announce the passing of Ruthy Bryant, who departed this world peacefully on April 2, 2026, at the age of 91. Ruthy was born on April 17, 1934, in Bellefontaine, Ohio, to her beloved parents, Grover and Helen Fridley.
Ruthy spent her formative years at The Ohio Soldiers and Sailors Orphans Home in Xenia, Ohio, where she graduated in 1950. Embarking on a journey of self-discovery and resilience, she pursued beauty school shortly after graduation. Her career was as diverse as it was fulfilling, with roles spanning electronic assembly, hair care, and caring for children—a testament to her versatility and genuine care for others.
In 1952, Ruthy married Robert D. Bryant, with whom she shared the joys and challenges of life until their separation in 1989. They were blessed with a beautiful family: daughter Robin (Gary), sons Douglas (Paula) and Michael (Nancy), who brought immense joy and pride to Ruthy’s life. She cherished her grandchildren, Rachel (Brandon), Christy, Jay, Valerie, and Lisa, and found infinite delight in her six great-grandchildren, who lovingly called her "Grandma Ruthy."
Ruthy was predeceased by her son-in-law, Bob Battaglia, and is survived by her siblings, Gene (Carol) and Dottie (Bill), as well as numerous nieces, nephews, and close friends, all of whom held a special place in her heart. Her warm personality, coupled with her fierce independence, left an indelible mark on everyone she encountered. Ruthy's love for her family was boundless; she delighted in making clothes, planning outings, and dedicating herself as the best mom and grandmother she could be.
An avid sports fan, Ruthy’s enthusiasm for her beloved Ohio State Buckeyes was matched only by her love for the San Francisco 49ers, San Francisco Giants, Golden State Warriors, and the Cincinnati Reds. Her vibrant spirit and unwavering loyalty were as much a part of her as her gentle smile and kind words.
Ruthy’s family extends heartfelt gratitude to her devoted caregiver of five years, Alisa McCormack, whose compassionate care enriched Ruthy's life, especially during her final year. We also express our deepest thanks to the Kaiser Hospice team and her nurses, who provided comfort and peace in Ruthy’s last few months.
A service to honor Ruthy's life will be held on April 20, 2026, at 12:00 PM at the Callaghan Mortuary, located at 3883 East Avenue, Livermore, CA 94550. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations be made in Ruthy's memory to the American Diabetes Association, a cause close to her heart: Donate Here.
Ruthy Bryant’s legacy of love, resilience, and generosity will forever be remembered by those fortunate enough to have known her. She will be deeply missed and fondly remembered, leaving behind a legacy of love that will continue to inspire for generations to come.
