Ruthie Mae Bonds

Ruthie Mae Bonds, a cherished pillar of her family and community, passed away peacefully on August 18, 2026, at a nursing facility. Born on November 24, 1954, in Chicago, Illinois, Ruthie graced the world with her presence for 71 beautiful years. She was the beloved daughter of the late James and Lennie Bonds, who raised her with love and values that she carried throughout her life. Ruthie was predeceased by her parents and two adored sons, Marcus and Calvin Bonds. She is survived by her devoted son Maurice Bonds and his wife Tasha, who lovingly cared for Ruthie in her final years, and her sister, Linda Bonds. Her legacy continues through her six grandchildren: Dawson Pitts, Dianna Bonds, Maurice Bonds Jr., Mysia Bonds, Trent Bonds, and Calvin Bonds Jr., as well as her five great-grandchildren: Leia Bonds, Dawson Jr., and Damarius. Each of them carries a piece of Ruthie's heart and spirit. A proud graduate of James Madison High School and Malcolm X College, Ruthie built a career at Amoco gas station, where she dedicated 15 years of hard work and service. Beyond her professional life, Ruthie found joy in life's simple pleasures. She loved dancing and was often the life of the party, bringing warmth and laughter to gatherings with friends and family. Music was a constant companion, uplifting her spirit and those around her. Ruthie was baptized at the tender age of seven and remained a devoted member of the Baptist Church throughout her life. Her faith was a guiding light, and she embodied its teachings through her love and kindness. Ruthie cherished her family above all, keeping them close and reminding them of the importance of unity and love. Her amazing smile and generous heart left an indelible mark on everyone she met. A service to honor and celebrate Ruthie's life will be held on October 9, 2026, at 2:00 PM at McCullen's Funeral Home and Cremation, located at 851 E. 75th Street, Chicago, IL 60619. The family expresses deep gratitude to Tasha Bonds, Ruthie's "daughter-in-love," for her unwavering care and dedication over the past two years. Your love and strength have been a blessing. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly suggests donations be made to a charity of your choice, as a way to honor Ruthie's generous spirit.
