Ruth Pelach Goodyear

November 18, 1932 — July 12, 2026

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the peaceful passing of Ruth Pelach Goodyear on July 12, 2026. Born on November 18, 1932, in Farmington, Minnesota, Ruth lived a life full of love dedication to her family and heritage. Ruth was the beloved daughter of Andrew and Annie Pelach, who instilled in her a deep appreciation for her Slovak roots. She was preceded in death by her parents, her ten cherished siblings, and her loving husbands, Norman Thompson and Lee R. Goodyear. She is survived by her dear sister, Irene, who shared her journey through life, and her stepdaughter, LeAnne Carstens, along with her family. Ruth also leaves behind her devoted nephew, Geoffrey Croghan, and his family. Her extended family includes many generations of the Pelach line, who will forever cherish the legacy she leaves behind. Ruth's passion for genealogy was unmatched. She dedicated countless hours to tracing and documenting the Pelach family lineage, ensuring that the stories and traditions of her ancestors would be preserved for future generations. Her love for her Slovak heritage took her on several memorable trips to Slovakia, where she deepened her connection to her roots. Ruth had a keen eye for capturing the beauty of the world around her. Her photographs serve as a timeless testament to artistic vision and her love for travel. Yet, above all, Ruth's greatest joy came from her family. She was the heart of every family gathering, especially the Pelach Family Reunions, where she made certain that traditions were honored and celebrated. In her final days, Ruth was surrounded by the compassionate care of the Lake Valley Hospice staff, to whom the family extends their heartfelt gratitude for the kindness and support shown to Ruth during her transition. A private funeral ceremony will be held in honor of Ruth's wishes. She will be interned at Corinthian Cemetery, Farmington, Minnesota. Ruth Pelach Goodyear will be remembered for her unwavering faith, as beautifully reflected in the words of Isaiah 12:2: "Behold, God is my salvation, I will trust and not be afraid for the Lord God is my strength and my song. He has become my salvation." May her soul rest in peace, and may her memory be a blessing to all who knew and loved her.
