In Loving Memory
Ruth Margeret Fricke
April 12, 1939 — October 9, 2025
It is with heavy hearts and profound gratitude for a life well-lived that we announce the passing of Ruth Margeret Fricke, a cherished mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, and friend. Ruth passed away peacefully at her home on October 9, 2025, at the age of 86. Born on April 12, 1939, in West Plains, Missouri, Ruth's remarkable journey through life was marked by love, resilience, and an unwavering commitment to family.
Ruth was a beacon of warmth and kindness, known for her extraordinary ability to make everyone feel welcome and loved. Her generous spirit was a testament to her character, touching the lives of all who had the privilege of knowing her. Ruth's home was often filled with laughter and love, as she found immense joy in spending time with her family, which was, without doubt, her greatest passion and source of pride.
Ruth was predeceased by her beloved husbands, Donald Ray Smith and Eugene Fricke, her son, Brian Kelly Smith, and her great-grandson, Tucker Eddleman. Despite these profound losses, Ruth's resilience and strength were ever-present, guiding her through life's challenges with grace and dignity.
She leaves behind a legacy of love through her surviving family: her sons, Dennis Smith and wife Karen from Monroe, Louisiana, and Michael Smith of Heber Springs, Arkansas; her daughter, Patricia Johnson of Rockford, Illinois; and her sister, Martha Zook of Peoria, Illinois. Ruth's nurturing spirit lives on in her seven grandchildren and six great-grandchildren, who will continue to carry forward her values of kindness and generosity.
Ruth's family extends their deepest gratitude to the compassionate staff of St. Joseph Hospice, whose support and care were a source of comfort during her final days.
As we celebrate Ruth's life, we remember her not only for the love she shared but also for the lessons she imparted: to cherish family, to welcome all with open arms, and to live generously. Her spirit will forever be a guiding light to those she loved and leaves behind.
Ruth Margeret Fricke will be dearly missed, yet her spirit will remain forever in the hearts of those who were touched by her love and kindness.
