Ruth Irene Rowley
February 11, 1941 — October 8, 2026
With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of our beloved Ruth Irene Rowley on October 8, 2026, aftera devastating fall. Born on February 11, 1941, in Ashland, Kentucky, Ruth was a beacon of warmth and kindness, whose life was defined by love, dedication, and a profound sense of joy. She never met a stranger.
Ruth was the cherished daughter of the late William and Dorothy (Darling) Lyons. Shortly after she was born, her father passed away and her mother married a pilot in the Air Force. They went many places together.
Through the air force, she would take it upon herself to learn and to watch. She told me. Whenever they couldn't find her, they knew exactly where to look. Ruth would always be on the rooftop of their home and watch the planes fly over. She went to many places as a child.
Ruth asked loved rhubarb it was her favorite snack. She would tell us how her aunt always told the kids to stay out of the rhubarb. Patch, and they all would except for her. She would snap her piece off and then run off so she could eat it without getting caught.
Ruth, what's the most loving caring, compassionate person. She put her heart into everything. She did even when it was just telling silly jokes to the kids.
It's funny, kinda how I am standing right here. And she's not sitting in the chair, making faces at me. Trying to make me laugh. She opened my heart, mike. I never thought possible. No matter what had happened to her in her life before she
She is predeceased by her parents and is lovingly remembered by her surviving family, including her devoted daughter, Kim. Ruth also leaves behind a legacy through her grandchildren, Bryan, Breanna (Stephan), Logan, and Ivory, as well as her great-granddaughter, Ameira, with another precious great-grandchild expected in April.
Ruth shared a deep and abiding love with her husband, Alan Rowley, and her life was enriched by the companionship of close friends Pennie, Michelle, and Flint. Her faithful cat, Simon, was her constant companion and joy, sharing in her daily life and adventures.
A woman of many talents, Ruth worked as a truck driver and later managed numerous La Quinta Hotels with care and commitment. Her professional life was marked by efficiency and compassion, qualities that were evident in all her endeavors.
Ruth’s hobbies reflected her creative spirit and nurturing nature. She was an avid knitter and a lover of books, and she had a special place in her heart for cats. She was generous with her time and affection, sharing her warmth with everyone she met. Ruth's kindness and compassionate spirit were unparalleled; she never spoke ill of anyone and always found happiness in the smallest of life's moments.
Ruth's faith was a cornerstone of her life. Her love for Jesus was profound, and she often shared fond memories of Sunday school and the joy of being with little children. Even as Alzheimer's began to alter her journey, her stories and memories of youth brought light and laughter to those around her.
A service celebrating Ruth's remarkable life will be held at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints on October 17, 2026, at 6:00 PM. The family expresses their heartfelt gratitude to O'Connor Funeral Home for their professional service and kindness during this time.
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations be made in Ruth's memory to a charity of your choice, reflecting her spirit of generosity and love for others.
Ruth Irene Rowley will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing her. Her legacy of love, warmth, and compassion will live on in the hearts of her family and friends.
