Ruth I Stacy

July 9, 1941 — March 6, 2026

It is with deep sadness and yet profound gratitude for a life well-lived that we announce the passing of Ruth I. Stacy, a cherished sister, aunt, and friend. Ruth peacefully departed this world on March 6, 2026, at the age of 84, leaving behind a legacy of love and kindness that will forever be remembered by those whose lives she touched. Ruth was born on July 9, 1941, in the close-knit community of Hurley, Virginia, to her beloved parents, Robert and Ollie Stacy. As one of several siblings, Ruth grew up surrounded by the warmth and camaraderie that only a large family can provide. Predeceased by her parents and siblings Bill, John, Ronny, Frank, Fay Scalen, Lula Baker, and Laura May, Ruth's passing marks the end of an era for the Stacy family, yet her spirit lives on in the cherished memories she created with them. Ruth's journey led her to Lakeland, Florida, where she found not only employment but a second family at Florida Southern College. For many years, she worked as a cashier in the college's dining room, a role that allowed her to share her warmth and kindness with countless students and staff. Ruth's gentle smile and caring nature turned everyday interactions into moments of genuine connection, earning her a special place in the hearts of all who crossed her path. A devoted member of Northside Baptist Church in Lakeland, Ruth's faith was a guiding light throughout her life, providing her with strength and solace. Her church community was an extension of her family, where she found spiritual nourishment and shared her compassion and generosity with fellow congregants. Ruth had a passion for cooking, a talent she lovingly shared with friends and family. Her kitchen was a haven of delicious aromas, hearty meals, and laughter, where she delighted in bringing people together through her culinary creations. Her dishes were not just food but expressions of her love and care, a testament to her nurturing spirit. Known for her selflessness, Ruth consistently put others before herself. Her love for her family and friends was boundless, and her caring disposition extended to all living creatures. An animal lover at heart, Ruth's gentle way with animals was yet another reflection of her kind and compassionate soul. Ruth is survived by her sister, Betty Stacy, and a host of nieces and nephews who carry forward her legacy of love and warmth. Her family, both near and far, will miss her dearly, but they are comforted by the memories of her unwavering kindness and the joy she brought into their lives. In celebrating Ruth's life, we honor a woman who truly exemplified the virtues of compassion, generosity, and love. Her legacy will continue to inspire all who knew her, reminding us to live with kindness and to cherish our loved ones. A memorial service to celebrate Ruth's life will be held at Northside Baptist Church, with details to be announced. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to a local animal shelter in Ruth's memory, a tribute to her love for animals and her enduring spirit of giving. Ruth I. Stacy will be deeply missed, but her spirit will forever remain in the hearts of those she loved. May she rest in peace, surrounded by the love she so generously shared throughout her life.
