Ruth Ann Thomas Carlson, a cherished member of the Aberdeen community, passed away peacefully on September 1, 2026, at St. Peter’s Hospital. Born on October 1, 1946, in Evanston, Illinois, Ruth Ann was a beacon of kindness and service throughout her life. Ruth Ann was the beloved daughter of the late Blanche Eunice Carlson. She was raised with a profound sense of duty to others, a value she carried with her throughout her life. After graduating from Weatherwax High School on June 3, 1964, Ruth Ann dedicated herself to serving those in need. Her commitment to making the world a better place was exemplary through her military service with The Salvation Army. Her roles in various posts and her ongoing dedication to the Salvation Army, Lion’s, Amazing Grace Church, and the Union Gospel Mission were testaments to her generous spirit. A woman of many talents, Ruth Ann was known for her enthusiasm and hard work. She was a self-taught pianist who recently stepped in to play at her church, allowing the regular pianist a much-needed respite. Her musical talents brought joy to many, and her willingness to share those talents was a hallmark of her character. Ruth Ann found joy in her hobbies, particularly in playing Bingo at the Aberdeen Senior Center and quilting with the group at Amazing Grace Church. Her involvement in creating over 300 quilts for Lutheran World Relief showcased her commitment to providing warmth and comfort to those in need around the globe. Her life was marked by compassion, selflessness, and an unwavering commitment to her community. Those who knew her will remember her for her tireless service and the warmth she brought into every room. A celebration of Ruth Ann's life will be held on October 3, 2026, at 1:00 PM at Amazing Grace Lutheran Church, located at 111 E 4th, Aberdeen, WA 98520. Friends and loved ones are invited to gather in remembrance of her remarkable life. In her memory, the family expresses their gratitude to the staff at Regional Health Hospital in Aberdeen, WA, and St. Peter’s Hospital in Olympia, WA, for their compassionate care. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to The Salvation Army or Union Gospel Mission, organizations close to Ruth Ann's heart. Ruth Ann Thomas Carlson leaves behind a legacy of love and service that will continue to inspire all who were fortunate enough to know her. She will be deeply missed but lovingly remembered.
