Ruth Lorraine McNary Fritz

Ruth McNary Fritz, a cherished member of the Riverdale community, passed away peacefully on August 31, 2026, at the age of 78. Born on June 11, 1948, in Fresno, California, Ruth was the beloved daughter of Glenn and Roberta McNary. She was predeceased by her parents, her brother Roger McNary, and her sister Frances Bettencourt. Ruth grew up in a loving family, where she developed a passion for helping others and a lifelong love of music. She graduated from Riverdale High School in 1966 and pursued her education as a dental hygienist at Reedley College. Ruth married the love of her life, Tom Fritz, on December 27, 1970. Together, they built a beautiful family and shared 55 years of marriage filled with love, laughter, and countless cherished memories. Ruth is survived by her devoted husband Tom, her sister Kathryn McNary Schumacher, her daughters Kerri Fritz Price and Erica Fritz Crouch, her grandchildren Madison and Alek Price, and many treasured nieces, nephews and cousins. Ruth dedicated her career to nurturing and educating young minds. She worked at Riverdale Elementary School for several decades, both as a classroom aide and as a choir instructor, where she inspired countless students with her passion for music. She also shared her love of literature and learning through her work at the Riverdale Library. A pillar of her community, Ruth led the Riverdale United Methodist Church choir for nearly 50 years, bringing joy and spiritual enrichment to many. Her leadership extended to the Riverdale Women’s Civic Club and the Riverdale Elementary School PTA, where she served as President, demonstrating her unwavering commitment to community service. Ruth's life will be celebrated at a service on September 12, 2026, at 11:00 AM, at the Riverdale Community Church (formerly Riverdale United Methodist), located at 20721 Malsbary Street, Riverdale, CA. Family, friends, and all those whose lives were touched by Ruth are invited to attend and honor her remarkable legacy. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made in Ruth's memory to Evangel Home, a cause close to her heart, located in Fresno, CA. The family extends their heartfelt gratitude to Hanford Post Acute, Hinds Hospice Services, and especially Natalie Escalera for the compassionate care provided to Ruth in her final days. Ruth will be remembered for her generosity, her unyielding love for her family and community, and her beautiful spirit that will continue to inspire all who knew her.
