Russell Poullard, a cherished husband, father, grandfather, and friend, passed away peacefully at home on July 14, 2026, after a courageous battle with cancer. Born on July 3, 1956, in Lafayette, Louisiana, Russell was a beacon of strength and kindness throughout his life.
Raised in a loving home by his parents, Milton and Patricia Poullard, Russell grew up with his brothers James and Darrell, all of whom have predeceased him. He graduated from Iota High School, where he established lifelong friendships and began to cultivate his passion for helping others.
Russell's life was a testament to love and dedication. He shared a deep and enduring bond with his beloved wife, Shaletha Poullard, who stood by his side through life's myriad challenges and joys. Together, they created a family filled with love and laughter. Russell was the proud father of Theresa Bias from Crowley, Louisiana; Russell Bias from Las Vegas, Nevada; Shawna Gilliam from Austin, Texas; Ben; and Russell Poullard Jr. from Dallas, Texas. He also embraced his role as a father to his bonus children, Kevin Savoy from Lake Charles, Louisiana, and BJ and DJ Poullard, with open arms and a full heart.
Russell's legacy extends to his 8 grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren, who brought immense joy and pride into his life. Whether offering advice, sharing a story, or simply being present, he left an indelible mark on each of their hearts.
Throughout his life, Russell was known for his unwavering kindness, infectious laughter, and ability to bring people together. He was a pillar of strength for his family and a source of inspiration for all who knew him. His compassionate nature and generous spirit were evident in all he did, and he leaves behind a legacy of love and resilience.
