It is with heavy hearts and sadness that we announce the passing of Russell Cross, a beloved husband, father, son, grandfather, and friend, who peacefully departed this life on May 25, 2026, surrounded by his cherished family and friends in Tyler, Texas. Born on April 28, 1970, in Killeen, Texas, Russell’s journey through life was marked by his unwavering dedication to his family Russell was the son of Clarence and Junko Cross, who survive him and were his lifelong support. He leaves behind his devoted wife, Christy Cross, whose companionship brought him joy and fulfillment. He was the proud father of Drake Cross, his wife Caitlin, and Reagan Cross. Russell was also a loving stepfather to Morgan and Zachary Green, and grandchildren Phoenix and Ginnivive. Russell’s early years were spent in Vandalia, Ohio where he graduated from Butler High School in 1989. His passion for cooking led him to culinary school in Ohio, and later attending Tyler Junior College. His culinary talents found a noble calling during his 13 years of service in the U.S. Army, where he served as a cook, providing nourishing meals and comfort to his fellow soldiers. After his honorable military service, Russell embarked on a new chapter as a truck driver for Panel Truss in Henderson, where he worked diligently until his retirement in 2015. Russell was a man of faith and an active member of Southspring Baptist Church, where he found a spiritual home. He served his church with enthusiasm by driving the church’s golf cart. His love for people extended beyond his family and church, as he never met a dog he didn’t befriend, and his compassion for animals was well-known. In his leisure time, Russell found joy in the simple pleasures of life. He loved playing Dungeons and Dragons with his friends. His green thumb was evident in the beautiful flowers he planted, a testament to his appreciation for nature’s beauty. Russell’s giving heart touched the lives of many, and he was known for his unwavering commitment to ensuring his family was always cared for. His laughter, warmth, and generosity will be profoundly missed by all who knew him. A service to honor and celebrate the life of Russell Cross will be held at Southspring Baptist Church, located at 17002 US 69, Tyler, TX. His family invites all who knew and loved him to join in paying tribute to a life well-lived. In this time of sorrow, we find solace in the memories of Russell’s kindness, his unwavering love, and a legacy that will continue to inspire. May he rest in peace.
