Russell D. Snell, a beloved father, grandfather, brother, and partner, passed away peacefully on September 22, 2026, at the age of 69, after valiantly battling various types of cancers. Born on November 15, 1956, in Chardon, Ohio Russell was the cherished son of James and Leona Snell, who predeceased him, along with his brother James (Pete) Snell, sister Debbie Boyle, and his late wife, Dianne Snell. Russell's life was a testament to the power of love, family, and resilience. He was a devoted father to his children, Garrett and Chelsea Shetterly, and a doting grandfather to Lillian Swank, Alexander Shetterly, Charlotte Shetterly, and Ellie Shetterly. His love for his family was evident in the joy he found in spending time with them, particularly his grandchildren, who brought him immense happiness. An alumnus of Warren Western Reserve, Russel built a respected career at AVI, where he worked diligently for many years until his retirement. His colleagues and friends often spoke of his reliability and generosity, qualities that defined his professional and personal life. Russell had a passion for working with his hands, whether it was tinkering with vehicles or engaging in handy work around the house. His love for the outdoors was matched only by his love for fishing, a pastime he enjoyed immensely. He also enjoyed going to Bingo with Robin atleast once a week, he had a compassion for animals. Those who knew him remember his ability to bring a smile to anyone's face, a reflection of his caring nature and warm spirit. In 2017, Russell found love and companionship with Robin Redick. They shared nine wonderful years together, filled with laughter, love, and mutual support. Russell is also survived by his siblings, Mary and Jim Sable, and Robert and Kim Snell, who, will cherish his memory and miss him dearly. The family would like to extend their heartfelt gratitude for the outpouring of condolences and support during this difficult time. They are especially thankful to Cortland Healthcare and Southern Hospice for the compassionate care provided to Russell in his final days. Russell D. Snell will be remembered for his enduring love for his family, his unwavering kindness, and his ability to bring joy to those around him. His legacy will live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved him.
