It is with heavy hearts and profound sadness that we announce the passing of Rufus Mallory Jr, a beloved husband, father, brother, and friend. Rufus passed away peacefully on July 10, 2026, at the age of 74. Born on August 9, 1951, Rufus was a beacon of light and strength to all those who had the privilege to know him.
Rufus was the cherished son of Dorothy Mallory and Rufus Mallory Sir, who instilled in him values of kindness, integrity, and perseverance. These values defined his life and the countless lives he touched throughout his journey. Rufus grew up with a deep appreciation for family, a sentiment he carried forward into his own family life.
He was the devoted spouse of Geneva McKelvey, his partner and confidante. Together, they raised four wonderful children: Roderick Sopson, Mallory McKelvey, Robyn Golden Royal McKelvey, and a family that will carry his legacy forward with pride and love.
Rufus is also survived by his beloved sister, Vivian Thomas, who shared with him a lifetime of memories and a bond that could not be broken by distance or time. His family was the core of his existence, and he found immense joy and fulfillment in their happiness and success.
Friends and family will gather to celebrate Rufus's life on July 18, 2026, at 4:00 PM. The Repass, will be located at 1520 7th St S, Phenix City, AL 36869. It will be an opportunity to honor his life, share memories, and support one another in this time of loss.
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made to a charity of your choice in memory of Rufus. Such contributions will continue his legacy of generosity and care for others, a fitting tribute to a man who gave so much of himself to those around him.
