Rudolph Albert Edwards
July 5, 1935 — June 24, 2026
Rudolph Albert Edwards, fondly known as "Rudy" to his family and friends, passed away peacefully on June 24, 2026, after a courageous battle with pancreatic cancer. At the age of 90, Rudy left this world from his birthplace of Bridgeport, leaving behind a legacy of love, dedication, and service.
Born on July 5, 1935, Rudy was a man who wore many hats throughout his life, each with profound dedication and grace. He was the beloved husband of Barbara Guitero, whom he married shortly after their serendipitous meeting in their youth. Together, they celebrated 65 years of a marriage filled with love, laughter, and unwavering commitment.
Rudy was immensely proud of his service in the United States Marines, a chapter of his life that instilled in him the values of discipline, honor, and loyalty, which he carried into every endeavor. After his military service, Rudy channeled his industrious spirit into owning and operating his own construction company, where he left an indelible mark on the community through his craftsmanship and integrity.
A man of many passions, Rudy found joy in the simple pleasures of life, particularly in his yard and garden, where he spent countless hours nurturing nature’s beauty. His garden was not just a testament to his green thumb but also a reflection of his patient and nurturing nature, qualities that endeared him to all who knew him.
Rudy is survived by his loving children: daughters Kim Collins and Cindy Leili, and sons Mark Edwards and Gary Edwards. He was the proud grandfather of four grandchildren: Derrick Allen, Bradley Edwards, Kiera Leili, and Cole Edwards, who were the light of his life. His family was his greatest pride, and he cherished every moment spent in their company, imparting wisdom and love. He is also survived by a brother, Donald Edwards of Fairfield, CT and Terry Archer of Marco Island, FL.
Friends and family are invited to celebrate Rudy's remarkable life on July 7, 2026, at 11:00 AM at Union Cemetery in Easton. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations be made in Rudy’s memory to a Danbury Regional Hospice honoring his generous spirit and dedication to helping others. The calling hours will be at Honan funeral Home on 58 Main Street Newtown, Ct on Monday, July 6th from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm
