It is with profound sadness and loving remembrance that we announce the passing of Ruby Savannah Isom Johnson, a cherished matriarch and vibrant soul, who departed this life peacefully at her home on June 23, 2026, at the age of 90. Ruby was born on June 5, 1936, in Wilson, North Carolina, to the late John W. Isom Sr. and Elsie Mae (Artis) Isom. She possessed an unwavering love for her family and took immense pride in their achievements, always ready to share their successes with anyone who would listen. Her home was a testament to her love for decorating, often described by family and friends as a luxurious haven filled with warmth, laughter, and elegance. Ruby dedicated many years of her life to the care of others, working at St. Elizabeth Nursing Home in Providence, Rhode Island, until her well-deserved retirement. Her nurturing spirit and dedication to her work left an indelible mark on all who knew her. Preceded in death by her beloved daughter, Sheryl Y. Taylor, and siblings Mary Ana Jones and Harold Isom, Ruby leaves behind a legacy of love and devotion. She is survived by her cherished children, daughters Lydia P. Roane and Gloria L. Her legacy of love extends to her many great and great-great-grandchildren, who will continue to carry her light forward. Ruby was the heartbeat of every gathering, often the life of the party, her laughter and stories echoing in the hearts of those she loved. Her outspoken nature and big personality made her a cherished friend and confidante, and her presence will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege to know her.
