Ruby Jones

December 19, 1933 — May 12, 2026

It is with heavy hearts but profound gratitude for a life well-lived that we announce the passing of our beloved Ruby Jones, who departed this earthly realm on May 12, 2026, after a brief illness. Ruby was born on December 19, 1933, in Memphis, Tennessee, to Margie and Bernice Jerden. She blossomed into a beacon of love, strength, and warmth that touched everyone fortunate enough to know her. Ruby's life was a testament to the power of resilience and love. Her journey began in the vibrant streets of Memphis, where she graduated from Humes High School, equipped with a determination and spirit that would guide her through many successful ventures. In 1972, Ruby embarked on a career in restaurant management, a path that eventually led her to own her own restaurant. Her innate ability to connect with people and her unwavering work ethic were evident in every endeavor she undertook. In 1979, Ruby embraced change with grace, transitioning to the retail industry, where she opened gift shops in local Holiday Inns. Her entrepreneurial spirit was matched only by her passion for her family, particularly her cherished grandchildren and great-grandchildren, of whom she was immensely proud. Her heart expanded with each new addition to her family, and she found boundless joy in nurturing those relationships. Ruby was preceded in death by her loving parents, Margie and Bernice Jerden; her siblings, Lois, Alvis, and Dorsey Jerden; her devoted husband of 32 years, Alan Jones; granddaughters, Donna Chandler, Amanda Hampton, and Amy Hampton; and her great-granddaughter, Megan Bramlett. Her legacy is lovingly carried on by her daughters Patty Garey, Jo Chandler, Debby Jackson, and Johnnie Hampton; her sons Jerry Hampton and Jimmy Hampton; step-children Marie Biffle and Patrick Jones; along with her 18 grandchildren and 30 great-grandchildren, each of whom she adored. Ruby was a woman of simple pleasures, finding joy in shopping trips with her daughters and the companionship of her many pets. Her home was always a sanctuary of laughter, love, and good food, where everyone felt welcome and cherished. The family wishes to extend their heartfelt gratitude to the many caregivers who surrounded Ruby with love and compassion over the years. Special thanks to DeeDee, Lori, Naomi, Deja, and Lauryn for their unwavering devotion, and to the staff at Amedisys Home Health for their dedication and support during the past few years. As we bid farewell to Ruby, we do so with hearts full of love and memories that will forever be cherished. Her life was a beautiful tapestry woven with kindness, generosity, and an indomitable spirit. Though she is no longer with us, her legacy of love and resilience will continue to inspire all who knew her. Rest in peace, dear Ruby, knowing you were deeply loved and will be profoundly missed.
