It is with heavy hearts but profound gratitude for a life beautifully lived, that we announce the peaceful passing of Ruby Jewel Pace, who departed this world at the age of 91 on February 26, 2026. Born on September 18, 1934, in Bradley, Arkansas, Ruby was a beacon of light and love whose presence graced every life she touched.
Ruby was the cherished daughter of Johnny Reed, who predeceased her along with her beloved husband, Lawrence Pace, to whom she was devotedly married for 62 years until his passing in April of 1997. Together, they built a life rooted in love, kindness, and community. Ruby is survived by her beloved daughter, Bobbie Jackson, who was her pride and joy, and her precious granddaughter, Bijon Wade (Bush), who was the apple of her eye. Ruby's legacy also lives on through her great-grandchildren, Sabrena, Cameron, and Kaiden, who brought her endless joy and laughter.
A dedicated educator, Ruby graduated from Lincoln High School in Bradley, Arkansas, and went on to teach Music, Social Studies, and Art with passion and commitment for 32 years. Her classroom was not just a place of learning, but a sanctuary of creativity, acceptance, and inspiration. Ruby's influence extended beyond the confines of the classroom, as she instilled a love of art, music, and knowledge in all who knew her.
Known for her radiant smile and infectious laughter, Ruby had a unique gift for bringing joy to others. Her quick wit and generous spirit made her a beloved friend, neighbor, and confidante. She found happiness in the simple pleasures of life—whether it was solving crossword puzzles, taking leisurely walks around her neighborhood, or indulging in her love for art. Above all, Ruby cherished the moments spent with her family, especially her granddaughter Bijon, with whom she shared an unbreakable bond.
The family extends a heartfelt thank you to Ruby’s caregivers, the hospice staff, and her devoted granddaughter, whose unwavering support and love were a comfort to her in her final days. In Ruby’s own words, "I am that I am," and she truly embodied the grace, resilience, and faith that defined her life. As she often proclaimed, "Can’t nobody do me like Jesus," a testament to her steadfast faith and spirit.
A celebration of Ruby’s remarkable life will be held on March 6, 2026, at 3:00 PM at Hughes Funeral Home, located at 400 E Jefferson Blvd, Dallas, TX 75203. Family and friends are invited to gather in remembrance of a truly extraordinary woman whose legacy will forever be etched in our hearts.
