March 8, 1945 — July 9, 2026
It is with heavy hearts and profound sadness that we announce the passing of Ruben Maldonado, a beloved father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and friend. Born on March 8, 1945, in the picturesque town of Isabella, Puerto Rico, Ruben peacefully departed from this world on July 9, 2026, after a courageous battle with dementia and Parkinson's disease.
Ruben was a man who embraced life with a warm heart and an infectious smile. His journey began in the vibrant landscapes of Puerto Rico, where his love for family and community took root. As a young man, Ruben ventured to the United States, where he built a fulfilling career as a coach USA bus driver. His work was not merely a job but a passion, as it allowed him to meet people from all walks of life and share his boundless humor and warmth with them.
One of Ruben's greatest joys in life was spending time with his family, especially his cherished grandchildren and great-grandchildren. His home was a haven filled with laughter, love, and the aroma of his favorite Puerto Rican dishes. Ruben was a master storyteller, often recounting tales of his adventures and life lessons, always with a twinkle in his eye.
Ruben's love for life extended beyond his family and work. He was an enthusiastic casino-goer, frequently visiting Atlantic City to try his luck and enjoy the vibrant atmosphere. Those who knew him would say that Ruben was always finding a way to be funny; his laughter was contagious, and his ability to bring joy to others was unparalleled.
Ruben is survived by his devoted sons, Ruben, Edwin, and Hiram, who each carry forward his legacy of love, laughter, and resilience. He leaves behind a remarkable legacy of eight grandchildren and five great-grandchildren, each touched by his kindness and inspired by his spirit.
In honoring Ruben's wishes, a private funeral ceremony will be held, allowing family and close friends to reflect on the beautiful life he lived and the indelible mark he left on their hearts.
For those who wish to honor Ruben's memory, the family kindly requests that donations be made in his name to a charity supporting dementia and Parkinson's research.
Ruben Maldonado's life was a testament to the power of love, family, and a good sense of humor. Though he has left this world, his spirit lives on in the smiles of his family and the memories they cherish. May he rest in peace, forever remembered and always loved.
