Roy Twitty

March 17, 1936 — May 12, 2026

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Roy Twitty, a cherished father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and beloved member of his community. Roy departed this world on May 12, 2026, at the age of 90, surrounded by his loving sons at the hospital. He leaves behind a legacy of love, laughter, and unwavering faith that touched all who had the privilege of knowing him. Born on March 17, 1936, in Antioch, California, Roy was the cherished son of Earl and Edith Twitty. He grew up with a passion for storytelling, a gift he would carry throughout his life. Roy pursued his love for writing by earning a Master’s Degree in Creative Writing from San Francisco State University, a testament to his dedication to the craft. At the tender age of 19, Roy answered the call of duty and joined the Navy. His time in service was marked by adventures as he chased Russian submarines as a radar crewman in P2V airplanes and served as an electronics instructor. Roy was among the last of the lighter-than-air crewmen to fly in the Navy's blimps, and he continued to serve in the reserves, a commitment he held with great pride. Roy's professional journey led him to Silicon Valley, where his talents flourished in the Public Relations sector. Though he dreamed of writing the Great American Novel, his eloquent words found expression in crafting homilies as a Deacon in the Catholic Church for over two decades. Roy served with devotion at St. Charles in San Carlos, CA, and later at St. Catherine of Siena in Burlingame, CA. His homilies, marked by humor and insight, connected deeply with those who listened, fulfilling what he considered his life's true purpose. Roy's heart belonged to his beloved wife, Mary Connelly-Twitty, with whom he shared nearly two decades of marriage before her passing in 2002 from ovarian cancer. Together, they created a loving home for their sons, Devin and Ryan, who cherished their mother and looked to their father as a hero. Roy's legacy continues through his sons, Eric, Greg, Ryan, and Devin, who carry forward the love and values he imparted. He was a proud grandfather to Miles and Davis and a great-grandfather to the young Silas Twitty. His family was the cornerstone of his existence, and his bond with them was profound and enduring. In his final years, Roy found solace and joy in the Sierra foothills near Sonora, California, living with his son Ryan. Their bond was extraordinary, a testament to the deep love and mutual care they shared. Roy's family wishes to extend their heartfelt gratitude to all his friends for the beautiful memories and friendship shared over the years. His presence in our lives was a gift, and he will be deeply missed. A service to honor and celebrate Roy's life will be held on May 28, 2026, at 10:00 AM at St. Catherine of Siena Church in Burlingame, CA. Family, friends, and all those whose lives Roy touched are invited to join in remembrance of a truly remarkable man. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations to be made in Roy's memory to a charity of your choice, continuing his legacy of giving and compassion. May his soul rest in eternal peace.
