April 23, 1957 — June 17, 2026

It is with heavy hearts and loving memories that we announce the passing of Roy Lee Myers Sr. on June 17, 2026. Born in Los Angeles, California, on April 23, 1957, Roy was a beloved son of the late Bennie C. and Johnnie Mae Myers. He passed away peacefully after a long illness, surrounded by the love of his family. Roy was a vibrant soul who lived life on his own terms. He graduated high school in 1975 and briefly served in the Army Reserve in 1973. Though his military service was short-lived, Roy approached life with the same tenacity and spirit. He embraced a myriad of experiences, never tied to one occupation, instead finding joy and fulfillment in a variety of odd jobs. Whether washing cars, babysitting, or any number of tasks, Roy was a true handyman who could turn his hand to anything. A man of many talents, Roy was known for his love of sports and his prowess at the card table. He enjoyed playing spades and dominoes, and his infectious laughter often filled the room. Despite never having the perfect singing voice, Roy was always ready to entertain, bringing joy to those around him with his attempts at song and his love of dance. Family was the cornerstone of Roy's life. He was predeceased by his parents, Bennie and Johnnie Mae Myers, his siblings Victoria Myers, Carol (Myers) Ware, Dennis Myers, and Crystal (Myers) Berry, his son Richard Myers, and his partners Lillie Smith and Diana Kennedy. He is survived by his children: Roy Myers Jr., LeTrell Myers, Kanisha Myers, Roy Myers III, Tina Myers, Fred Myers, Cynthia Myers, and Jennifer Myers. Roy's legacy continues through his 32 grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren. He is also survived by his Brothers Bennie Myers, Mark Myers and Clifford Myers, sisters Jacquelyn Myers-Forch, Angela Myers-Richardson, Brenda Myers, and Belinda Myers, as well as an extended family of numerous relatives and cherished friends. A service to celebrate Roy's life will be held on July 24, 2026, at 11:00 AM at McKay's South Bay Mortuary, located at 3918 Marine Ave., Lawndale, CA 90260. The family extends their deepest gratitude for the thoughtful prayers, blessings, and condolences received during this time of loss. Your words and gestures are a testament to Roy's impact on all who knew him. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made to a charity of your choice in memory of Roy Lee Myers Sr. His spirit will forever remain in the hearts of those he touched, and his legacy of laughter and love will continue to inspire.
