Roy Lamar Brown

It is with heavy hearts and profound gratitude for a life well-lived that we announce the passing of our beloved Roy Lamar Brown, who departed this world on April 16, 2026, at the age of 70. Roy was born on March 17, 1956, in San Antonio, Texas, to his loving parents, James Turner and Peggy Brown, who have predeceased him. He is now reunited with them, along with his cherished wife of 34 years, Ramona Brown, his daughter Shannon Potter, and his brother, James Turner. Roy's journey through life was marked by dedication, love, and service. He spent 23 years in the United States Army, rising to the rank of Sergeant First Class. During his distinguished military career, Roy was recognized with numerous honors, including the Bronze Star Medal, the Army Commendation Medal, and the Army Achievement Medal, among others. His commitment to his country and his fellow soldiers was unwavering, and he proudly served with honor and integrity. Roy was a man of many passions and talents. He had a deep appreciation for music and a love for history, particularly American Presidents. His intellectual curiosity was matched only by his mechanical aptitude, and he was affectionately known as the "Energizer Bunny" for his boundless energy and determination. Roy could often be found tending to his beautifully landscaped garden, a testament to his love for nature and his meticulous attention to detail. Family was the cornerstone of Roy's life. He is survived by his devoted son, Donald Potter, Jr., and his wife Elizabeth of Prairieville, LA; his son, Dennis Potter, and his wife Nicole of Lancaster, PA; and his daughter, Debra Potter of Leesville, LA. Roy was a proud grandfather to 13 grandchildren and was blessed with the joy of 5 great-grandchildren, each of whom brought him immense happiness. Roy also leaves behind his cherished siblings, his brother Patrick Turner and his sister Debi Summersell. They remember him as a man who was both crabby and family-oriented, whose love for his family was as vast as his love for his dear Ramona. Friends and family are invited to celebrate Roy's remarkable life on April 22, 2026, at 11:00 AM at Labby Memorial Funeral Home, located at 601 S. Fourth St., Leesville, LA 71446. As we gather to honor his memory, we remember Roy as a devoted husband, a loving father and grandfather, a loyal brother, and a decorated veteran who lived life with passion and purpose. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made in Roy's memory to a veteran's charity of choice, in tribute to his selfless service to our nation. Roy Lamar Brown left an indelible mark on all who knew him. His laughter, his wisdom, and his unwavering spirit will be forever cherished. Though he has left this earthly realm, his legacy of love, courage, and perseverance will live on in the hearts of those he touched.
