Roy was a beloved father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, uncle, and friend, and his presence will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing him.
Born on June 8, 1931, in El Paso, Texas, Roy was the cherished son of Ronda and Tremaine Edwards. As the years unfolded, he carried with him the warmth and values imparted by his family. His early life in El Paso, alongside his siblings, was characterized by an enduring love for family and community.
A proud alumnus of El Paso High, Roy graduated in 1948, setting the stage for a life marked by service and dedication. In 1954, he answered the call of duty and served his country with pride and honor in the United States Army until 1958. This period of his life was a testament to his unwavering commitment to the values of courage and sacrifice.
In 1959, Roy embarked on a new chapter when he married Linda M. Edwards in a ceremony that celebrated love and partnership. Their union was blessed with six wonderful children, whose lives are a reflection of their father's gentle guidance and steadfast support. Though Roy and Linda eventually parted ways, their shared years were filled with moments that shaped a lifetime of memories.
Roy's legacy extends through his family, which includes his surviving ex-wife, Linda, two brothers, one sister, six children, and a bounty of grandchildren and great-grandchildren—13 and 3, respectively—each a testament to the enduring bonds he nurtured. His family was his pride and joy, and he took immense pleasure in their achievements and happiness.
Roy's life was touched by both joy and sorrow, having been predeceased by his parents, three brothers, and two sisters. Yet, he carried their memories with him, honoring their lives through his actions and the love he shared with those around him.
