Roy Allen Montgomery
February 15, 1947 — March 27, 2026
It is with heavy hearts and a profound sense of loss that we announce the passing of Roy Allen Montgomery, who departed this life on March 27, 2026, at the age of 79. Roy, a man of honor, warmth, and ceaseless curiosity, succumbed to a heart attack, leaving behind a legacy of love and laughter that will be cherished by all who had the privilege of knowing him.
Roy was born on February 15, 1947, in the great state of Ohio to the late Mr. and Mrs. Montgomery. Growing up in a close-knit family, he embodied the values of hard work and integrity from a young age. He graduated from Ohio High School in 1963, setting the stage for a life filled with dedication and achievement.
In his early years, Roy answered the call to serve his country, dedicating two decades of his life to the military. His service was marked by numerous accolades, a testament to his unwavering commitment and honorable nature. Upon retiring from the military, he transitioned to the open roads as a truck driver, where he owned and operated his own rig, retiring once more after a fulfilling second career.
Roy was a man of many talents, and his hands were never idle. He possessed an innate ability to build and repair anything that crossed his path, a skill that was as impressive as it was useful. This talent for fixing things was matched only by his sharp wit and infectious smile. He had a unique gift for lightening any mood with a well-timed joke or a kind word, endearing him to all who met him.
Roy's life was richly blessed with family. Though predeceased by his beloved parents, he leaves behind a tapestry of treasured relationships. He is survived by his ex-wife, Eva Montgomery in Gulfport Ms, and his 4 loving children: Latonya Smith and Ben Stallworth in Gulfport Ms, Shay Carter and Dontae Stallworth, in Waynesboro, Ms. He had 9 grandchildren—Tony Stallworth, Guy Stallworth, Minnie Boyd, Alexis Franks, Carlus Boyd, Destiny Stallworth, Shania Stallworth, Jermaine Carter, and Eric Jr. Carter—and his eight adored great-grandchildren.
A memorial service to honor Roy's extraordinary life will be held on April 22, 2026, at 1:30 PM at the Veterans Affairs facility located at 400 Veterans Avenue, Biloxi, MS 39531. Family and friends are invited to gather to celebrate a life well-lived and to share in the memories and laughter that Roy so generously provided throughout his days.
As his family, we are comforted by the knowledge that Roy entered our lives at just the right time, leaving an indelible mark on our hearts. His kindness and generosity touched many lives, and he will be profoundly missed but never forgotten.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that those who wish to honor Roy's memory consider a donation to a charity of their choice, in the spirit of his giving nature.
Rest in peace, Roy. You have been a guiding light, and your spirit will forever illuminate our paths.
