It is with heavy hearts and profound sadness that we announce the passing of Ross Allen Atkins, a beloved brother, uncle, great-uncle, and friend. Born on April 7, 1964, in the welcoming community of Garden City, Michigan, Ross departed this life on April 15, 2026, at the age of 62, after a short illness. His journey through life was one of love, laughter, and cherished memories.
Ross was the beloved son of the late William and Kathleen Atkins, who instilled in him a deep appreciation for family and community. He was also predeceased by his Uncle Floyd and Aunt Harriet Kruger, cousin Walter Kruger, and brother-in-law Jamie Linford. They all held a special place in his heart and now join him in eternal rest.
Ross is survived by his devoted sister, Sharon Linford, whose bond with him was unshakeable and filled with mutual affection and respect. He was a cherished uncle to Aaron and Claire Linford, and Brian Linford, and a doting great-uncle to Marcus and Jane Linford. His love and guidance shaped their lives in countless ways and will continue to inspire them.
Ross's friendships were a testament to his warmth and generosity. He leaves behind his close friends Joe McCallion and John Khore, with whom he shared countless adventures and memories. Together, they formed the band "Cool Breeze," where Ross's passion for music came alive, bringing joy to all who listened.
A lifelong devotee of sports, Ross enjoyed playing little league baseball as a child and continued to play adult baseball with many of the same cherished friends. His love for the game extended beyond the field as he actively participated in golf leagues and was a fervent supporter of professional baseball and hockey teams. His enthusiasm for sports was infectious and served as a unifying force among his friends and family.
Ross's life will be celebrated on May 2, 2026, at 12:00 PM at Charles R. Step, located at 18425 Beech Daly, Redford Township, MI 48240. Family and friends are invited to gather and honor Ross's memory, sharing stories and remembering the joy and laughter he brought into their lives.
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made to a charity of your choice in Ross's memory, continuing his legacy of kindness and generosity.
Though Ross has left this world, his spirit will forever live on in the hearts of those who knew and loved him. May he rest in eternal peace, surrounded by the music and laughter he cherished so dearly.
