In Loving Memory of Roslyn Patrice Bates It is with profound sadness and tender memories that we announce the passing of Roslyn Patrice Bates, a beloved mother, grandmother, sister, and friend, who departed this life on May 13, 2026, at the age of 67. Roslyn transitioned peacefully at Chateau Nursing Home following a courageous battle with dementia, surrounded by the love and care of those closest to her. Born on August 25, 1958, in Trenton, Tennessee, Roslyn was the cherished daughter of Dorothy Gentry and Charlie Johnson. From a young age, she was known for her vibrant spirit and the joy she brought to those around her. Her early years in Trenton were marked by a strong sense of community and family values, which she carried throughout her life. Roslyn's educational journey led her to Peabody High School, where she graduated with honors and laid the foundation for a life dedicated to helping others. Her career as a Qualified Medication Aide (QMA) at Lutheran Life Villages was a testament to her compassionate nature and commitment to caring for those in need. Her colleagues and patients alike appreciated her warmth, humor, and professionalism. Roslyn's family was the center of her world, and she was the proud mother of Emi Walker, Corey Kirk (Audrey), and Jonathan Gentry. Her legacy lives on in her 11 grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren, each of whom she adored and cherished deeply. Her sense of humor and love for dancing filled her home with laughter and music, creating a loving atmosphere that will be fondly remembered by all who knew her. She was predeceased by her beloved parents, Dorothy and Charlie, her son Clinton Kirk, and her brothers Ronald and Donald Gentry. In their eternal embrace, she finds her peace. Roslyn leaves behind her devoted siblings Maria, April, Anthony, and Rodrick Gentry, who will continue to celebrate her life and keep her memory alive. Her dear friends, Lisa and Michelle, along with a host of nieces, nephews, and extended family, will forever hold her close in their hearts. Roslyn had a passion for cooking and found great joy in preparing meals for family gatherings, where her love was evident in every dish she served. Her kitchen was a place of love, laughter, and shared memories. Family and friends are invited to celebrate Roslyn’s life and legacy at a memorial service on May 21, 2026, at Nelson Memorial Gardens, located at 1338 Eliza St. The family extends their heartfelt gratitude to all who have shown support and love during this difficult time. Your kindness and compassion have been a source of comfort and strength. As we bid farewell to Roslyn, let us remember her not with sorrow, but with gratitude for the moments we shared and the love she brought into our lives. Her spirit will continue to dance in our hearts, forever cherished and never forgotten.
