It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Rosina Catanese, a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend, who peacefully departed this world on April 14, 2026, following an illness. Born on April 6, 1947, in Queens, NY, Rosina was a beacon of love and warmth throughout her life, touching the hearts of all who knew her.
Rosina was the cherished daughter of the late Sebastiano and Maria Grandi. She grew up in Queens, where she developed a keen sense of compassion and a genuine love for people. After graduating from Jamaica Vocational High School, she embarked on a career as a hairdresser, bringing joy and confidence to her clients with her skillful hands and kind words.
In 1967, she married the love of her life, Pasquale Catanese, embarking on a beautiful journey of love and partnership that spanned 58 years. Together they built a nurturing home filled with laughter, warmth, and an unwavering sense of family. Rosina was an extraordinary homemaker, creating an oasis for her family where every gathering was enriched by her presence.
Rosina's thirst for knowledge and her unwavering determination led her back to school, where she earned her degree from Broome Community College at the age of 50. This achievement marked the beginning of a new chapter in her life, as she transitioned to a fulfilling career in healthcare. With her nurturing spirit, she worked in various nursing homes across the region, ultimately serving as Director of Medical Records at Willow Point Nursing Home. Her dedication and compassion left a lasting impact on her colleagues and the many lives she touched.
Beyond her professional accomplishments, Rosina was an avid reader and a talented crafter, often spending her free time engrossed in books or creating cherished keepsakes for her loved ones. She relished the company of friends and delighted in hosting gatherings that showcased her culinary talents and her love for bringing people together.
Rosina's legacy lives on through her devoted husband, Pasquale; her children, Elizabeth (Leland), Paul (Lynn), and Joseph (Lisa); her beloved grandchildren, Matthew, Stephanie (Ryan), Christina, and Andrew; and her precious great-granddaughter, Lily Rose. She was predeceased by her loving parents, Sebastiano and Maria Grandi, who have surely welcomed her with open arms in her eternal rest.
Friends and family are invited to honor Rosina's life and legacy at a memorial service on April 24, 2026, at 11:00 AM at Saints John and Andrew Church, located at 1263 Vestal Avenue, Binghamton, NY. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations be made to a charity of your choice in Rosina's memory, as a tribute to her generous spirit and her lifelong commitment to helping others.
Rosina Catanese will be remembered for her boundless love, her indomitable spirit, and the beautiful legacy of kindness and compassion she leaves behind. Her warmth and grace will forever remain in the hearts of those who were privileged to know her.
