Rosezetta Sutton Pierre

Rosezetta Sutton Pierre was born on May 31, 1955, to the union of Richard and Hattie Vincent Sutton in New Orleans, Louisiana. She was the youngest of seven children. She was truly spoiled and dearly loved. Rosezetta attended Robert R. Moton Elementary School, as well as George Washington Carver Junior & Senior High Schools, where she was a member of the dance team “U-Yett.” She was also a member of another dance team called the Cherry Blossoms. She performed both on stage and at basketball games. She was a teen dancer on The Walt Boatner Show in 1972. She graduated from high school in 1973 and after high school she attended Total Community Action School for Secretarial Studies (1975-1977). Rosezetta married her high school sweetheart, Gregory Pierre, Sr., and to this union three children were born: Latoya Pierre-Williams, Gregory Pierre, Jr., and Brandon Pierre. Rosezetta then began her career at Charity Hospital of New Orleans where she worked in the dietary department for over 20 years. She later worked at McDonald’s, where she continued to be known for her warmth and friendly spirit. FAITH & SPIRITUAL JOURNEY Rosezetta began her spiritual journey at an early age and was baptized at Pleasant Valley Church. Throughout her life she sought spiritual nourishment, also attending Mount Moriah Baptist Church and Franklin Avenue Baptist Church under the guidance of Pastor Fred Luter, Jr. She later attended Next Level Church under the leadership of Pastor Bobby Williams. Her favorite scripture was Psalm 23. A LIFE FULL OF JOY Rosezetta enjoyed dancing, playing card games, doing crossword puzzles, watching her favorite TV shows, singing, and most of all—enjoying family. She loved spending time with her best friends: Freda, Debra, Sheila, Linda, Roberteen, and Brenda. She was a youth mentor in the neighborhood, teaching children fundamental studies and preparing them for life. As she grew older, she enjoyed traveling with her daughter and family. She attended her 50th High School Class Reunion not too long ago and cherished the time spent with her former classmates. She also got the opportunity to go to a couple of 70’s parties recently and truly had a blast. This year she celebrated her 71st birthday with family & friends. One of the last celebrations was 4th of July. We enjoyed watching her dance & sing. For those who truly know her you should know that when the party was over she would never leave the party without grabbing a plate of food to go (Lol). CHERISHED MEMORIES Rosezetta will be remembered for her laughter, the joy she brought, her kind and gentle spirit, her love. We will always love and cherish the memories we have and the legacy she leaves behind. Forever in Our Hearts She was preceded in death by her father Richard C. Sutton, her mother Hattie V. Sutton, her son Gregory Pierre, Jr., brother Renard Vincent, father-in-law Albert Pierre, grandmother Katie Brown & her godmother Elizabeth Morrison. LEFT TO CHERISH HER MEMORY Her daughter, Latoya (Ryan) Williams; her son, Brandon R. Pierre; her bonus son, Rashad (Crystal) Oubre; five grandchildren, Mylon Williams, Nyla Williams, Ciera Williams, Kayla Pierre, and Xander Oubre; her sisters, Jeanette (Robert) Turner, Gertrude (the late Herbert, Sr.) Gant, Gracie (Anthony) Evans, Alma (Herman) LeBeau, Almena (Robert) Charles; her godchild, Kristy Thomas Adams; mother-in-law, June T. Pierre; sisters-in-law, Cheryl (and the late Melvin Thomas), Alana Pierre, and June (Gregory Sr.) Jones; her brother-in-law Wendell Pierre (Darlene); and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
