In Loving Memory

Rosendo Maldonado
August 19, 1937 — April 7, 2026
Rosendo Maldonado, a beloved husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and friend, passed away peacefully at home in the loving arms of his cherished wife on April 7, 2026, at the age of 88. His passing marks the end of a remarkable chapter that began in Albuquerque, where he was born on August 19, 1937, to his devoted parents, Fidel and Sofia Maldonado.
Rosendo was a man whose heart was as expansive as the New Mexico sky. He was predeceased by his parents, Fidel and Sofia, five brothers, three sisters, his grandson RayRay, and his great-grandson Mikey. Though he faced the loss of these loved ones with profound sorrow, Rosendo continued to honor their memories by living a life full of kindness, humor, and generosity.
He leaves behind his beloved wife, Rosemary, with whom he shared 65 wonderful years of marriage. They were a testament to enduring love, having celebrated their union on August 20, 1960. Together, they raised six children—Sofie, Ross, Senaida, Eloisa, Fidel, and Niesha—instilling in them the values of compassion and resilience. Rosendo's legacy is further carried on by his fourteen grandchildren, thirty-eight great-grandchildren, and seven great-great-grandchildren, each of whom brought him immense joy and pride.
Rosendo proudly served his country in the United States Air Force for five years, an experience that shaped his integrity and dedication. Following his military service, he embarked on a career as a trucker, where he enjoyed the simple pleasures of the open road and the camaraderie of his fellow drivers. Despite the long hours and challenging conditions, Rosendo was always ready with a joke to lighten the mood, an embodiment of his belief in the power of laughter and friendship.
In his leisure time, Rosendo found solace in the rolling greens of a golf course. Golfing was more than just a hobby; it was a passion that allowed him to connect with nature and his community. His swing was as steady as his spirit, and he cherished every round played with friends and family.
Rosendo's life will be celebrated in a memorial service on April 30, 2026, at 10:00 AM at Legacy East Campus, located at 4701 Wyoming Blvd NE, Albuquerque, NM 87109. Family and friends are invited to gather in remembrance of a man who touched countless lives with his warmth and unwavering generosity.
As we bid farewell to Rosendo, we remember him not only for the life he led but for the love he shared. His kindness, humor, and gentle spirit will continue to inspire all who had the privilege of knowing him. Though he is no longer with us in body, his spirit will forever reside in the hearts of those he loved and those who loved him in return.
