Rosemary Wilson

Rosemary Wilson, a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and friend, passed away peacefully on July 18, 2026, at the age of 83. Born on May 17, 1943, in Springfield, Illinois, to the late Thomas and Julia Whalen, Rosemary was a beacon of warmth and kindness whose life was a testament to her unwavering commitment to service and faith. With a heart filled with compassion and generosity, Rosemary dedicated a decade of her life to making a difference at the Texas Council on Family Violence. Her work was not just a career but a calling, and she was cherished by colleagues and the community alike for her dedication and tireless efforts. Rosemary never complained, facing each day with grace and a smile, a true reflection of her servant's heart. In 1997, Rosemary began a spiritual journey at New Life Austin Church, where she was a cherished member for 29 years. She was baptized in Jesus' name on June 28, 1997, and was filled with the Holy Spirit on September 19, 1997. Rosemary's faith was the cornerstone of her life, and she shared her love for the Lord through her roles as a Sunday school teacher, assistant, and greeter, spreading joy and wisdom to all who crossed her path. Rosemary is survived by her devoted husband, Bill (Clarence) Wilson, Jr., who stood by her side through all of life's joys and challenges. Together, they built a loving family that includes her children: Joseph DeRousse of Phoenix, Arizona, Rhonda Breaux of Avinger, Texas, Jay DeRousse of Phoenix, Arizona, and Rebecca Wilson of Lakeland, Florida. She is also survived by her stepchildren, Eileen Wilson, Clarence Wilson III, and Cordelia Nemity. Her legacy of love continues through her 15 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren, who will remember her as a guiding light and a source of endless love and wisdom. Rosemary was preceded in death by her parents, Thomas and Julia Whalen, and her son, Jeffrey DeRousse, whose memories she cherished deeply. A celebration of Rosemary's life will be held on August 1, 2026, at 10:00 AM at A New Life Church, located at 3200 Century Park Blvd., Austin, Texas 78727. Family and friends are invited to gather to honor and remember the remarkable life of a woman who touched so many hearts. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made to a charity of your choice, in remembrance of Rosemary's generous spirit and enduring legacy of giving. Rosemary Wilson will be remembered for her gentle spirit, her unwavering faith, and her boundless love for those around her. Her memory will forever be cherished in the hearts of all who were blessed to know her.
