In Loving Memory

Rosemary Swavel
October 2, 1944 — February 23, 2026
It is with heavy hearts and profound gratitude for a life well-lived that we announce the passing of Rosemary Swavel, who departed this world on February 23, 2026, at the age of 81. She passed away peacefully at Resolute Baptist Hospital in New Braunfels, Texas, surrounded by her loving family.
Born on October 2, 1944, in Portsmouth, Ohio, Rosemary was the cherished daughter of Ralph Curtis Swavel and Maria "Borders" Swavel. She was preceded in death by her parents, her beloved son Zachary Ryan Frazier, who passed away at just nine months old, and her grandparents, great-grandparents, aunts, and uncles who played influential roles in her life.
Rosemary was a devoted mother and is survived by her sons Erich (Andrea) Kaltenbach and Sean Jared (Kellie) Frazier, who were her pride and joy. She leaves behind her dear sister, Karen Sudakron, her cherished grandson Zachary Ryan (Victoria Castro) Kaltenbach, and her great-grandchildren, Zachary Jr., Grayson, and Novaleigh Kaltenbach. Her extended family includes her nephew Chris S., nieces KH, JH, and her great-nephews and nieces, who will all remember her with love and admiration.
A graduate of Portsmouth West High School, Rosemary pursued her passion for care and service at the Bethesda School of Nursing in Cincinnati, where she became a Registered Nurse. Her dedication to nursing spanned 47 years, culminating in her retirement from the VA in Huntington, West Virginia. Among her numerous professional achievements, Rosemary found her most rewarding role alongside her best friend, Noreen Sullivan, in Orlando, Florida, where she selflessly cared for children who had suffered from drowning incidents and provided support to their families.
Rosemary was a woman of the Prautison Faith, a testament to her spiritual strength that she carried throughout her life. Her love for travel took her across the globe, often visiting her son and family in Germany, and exploring the rich cultures of Ireland, Austria, Switzerland, and the Czech Republic. Her adventures later led her to Texas, where she continued to create cherished memories with her family.
Rosemary was known for her warmth, kindness, and compassionate spirit. She was an extraordinary mother, a doting grandmother, and, as her daughters-in-law would attest, the absolute best mother-in-law. Her legacy of love and devotion continues to shine through her family, who will forever hold her in their hearts.
As we celebrate Rosemary's life, we remember her as a beacon of love and resilience, whose strength and grace touched the lives of all who knew her. Her memory will be cherished by her family and friends, and her spirit will continue to inspire those she leaves behind.
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made in Rosemary’s honor to a charity supporting child safety or family support services, causes that were close to her heart.
Rosemary Swavel’s life was a testament to the transformative power of love, and her legacy will remain a guiding light for generations to come.
