Rosemary "Rose" Swanson

It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Rosemary "Rose" Swanson, a cherished mother, grandmother, and friend, who departed this world peacefully on July 17, 2026. Born on April 29, 1940, in Lakewood, Ohio, Rose was the beloved daughter of Edward and Anna Staruch. Rose's life was a testament to warmth, love, and community. A devoted mother, she leaves behind her children, Michael Swanson, Jim Swanson, Dave Swanson, and Christine Zelt, who will forever cherish her memory. Her legacy continues through her ten grandchildren, each of whom brought immense joy to her life. Rose was predeceased by her loving parents and her dear sisters, Shirley Kompan and Lillian Carey. Her passing marks the end of an era for her family, but her spirit will live on in their hearts and memories. For over three decades, Rose found joy and companionship in the programs, events, and activities of the Schaumburg Park District. She was also an avid reader, frequently visiting the Schaumburg Library to indulge her love for literature. Her passion for exploring new places was evident through her travels across the United States with Mayflower Tours, where she created countless cherished memories. Rose's life was guided by a profound love for her family and community. Her kindness and generosity touched the lives of all who knew her. In honoring her memory, the family suggests donations be made to the Schaumburg Park Foundation. Rose Swanson's legacy of love, laughter, and dedication will remain a guiding light for her family and friends. While she may no longer walk beside us, her spirit will forever inspire and uplift those who were fortunate to know her.
