Rosemary Kavner

Rosemary Adele Kavner, 82, of Reno, Nevada, passed away peacefully on July 21, 2026, surrounded by her loving children. Born and raised in New Jersey, Rosemary treasured her childhood and often reminisced about family vacations along the shore. Those summers, spent with family and lifelong friends, remained among her happiest memories and reflected the deep value she placed on the relationships she nurtured throughout her life. Rosemary began her career as an educator in New Jersey, where she taught for nearly ten years. She had a true passion for teaching and found great joy in helping young people learn and grow. After meeting the love of her life, Steve, the two moved to Reno in the early 1970s to pursue their shared love of skiing and golf. Rosemary continued her teaching career in Nevada, dedicating an additional 30 years to the Washoe County School District. She was a devoted educator whose impact reached countless students, colleagues, and families. Service to others was one of Rosemary's greatest joys. Alongside Steve, she devoted more than 20 years to the Sky Tavern Junior Ski Program. She also gave generously of her time through her church, the 1701 Group, and a fundraiser benefiting employee education at her local golf club. Her generous spirit and servant's heart left a lasting impact on countless lives. Rosemary lived life to the fullest and treasured the friendships formed through early-morning gym classes, golf outings at Washoe and Hidden Valley, breakfasts with fellow retired teachers, her church community, volunteering, and her bunco group. With her warmth, optimism, and infectious smile, Rosemary had a remarkable gift for making everyone around her feel genuinely loved and valued. Above all else, Rosemary cherished her family. She was deeply involved in the lives of her grandchildren, Owen and Dawson, who were truly the light of her life. She rarely missed a sporting event, school function, or family celebration and delighted in teaching them new skills, encouraging their interests, and creating memories they will carry with them forever. Her love was constant, generous, and present in every moment they shared. Rosemary is predeceased by her beloved husband, Steve Kavner; and her parents, Angelina and Russell Elmo Sr. She is survived by her brother, Russell Elmo Jr; her son, Michael Kavner; her daughter, Ginese (Nate) Weyant; and her cherished grandsons, Owen and Dawson Weyant.
