Rose Shrout
September 13, 1936 — July 1, 2026
It is with heavy hearts and profound gratitude for a life well-lived that we announce the passing of Rose Marie Shrout, a beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend to many. Rose peacefully departed this life on July 1, 2026. Born on September 13, 1936, in Independence Community, Doniphan County, Kansas, Rose was the cherished daughter of Carl Lutz Sr, and Marie Deichen Lutz, and the youngest of six children all of whom preceded her in death.
Rose's journey began in the warm embrace of a close-knit community, where she attended Sacred Heart Catholic School, Atchison Elementary, and Atchison High School. Her education laid the foundation for a life filled with creativity, dedication, and service to others. She married her first love, Dale Eads, in 1953, with whom she shared a beautiful life until his passing in 1993. The loss of their infant son, Mark Eads, was a sorrowful chapter in her life, yet she carried his memory with grace and resilience. In 1998, Rose found love once more and married Donald Shrout, a companion who brought joy to her life until his passing in 2022.
Rose is survived by her loving children: Ray Eads, Stan Eads, Cindy Edwinson, and Pam Wells. Her legacy of love continues through her five grandchildren and ten great-grandchildren, who will forever cherish her memory and the warmth she brought to their lives.
A woman of unparalleled talents, Rose was self-employed for many years as an artist, seamstress, and specialty cake baker. Her artistic touch extended beyond her professional life, as she was especially talented in knitting and Hardanger embroidery. Rose's hands were never idle, and her home was a testament to her creativity and love for beauty. Her career path also led her to serve as an administrative assistant to the president of Benedictine College and later as an office manager for Edward Jones, roles in which she was admired for her dedication and leadership.
Rose's hobbies were as colorful and diverse as her personality. An avid golfer in her younger years, she enjoyed painting and gardening, filling her days with the joy of creation and cultivation. Her garden was a reflection of her nurturing spirit, a place where love blossomed just as abundantly as the flowers she tended.
Above all, Rose was a homemaker in the truest sense of the word. Her home was a sanctuary of warmth and welcome, where everyone felt valued and cherished. She greeted each visitor with a smile and a hug, embodying the essence of hospitality. Her grandchildren fondly remember her playful spirit, including the day she delighted them with a lesson in the proper form for a cartwheel.
In honoring Rose's life, we are reminded of the profound impact of kindness, creativity, and love. Her family invites those who wish to honor her memory to make donations to a charity of their choice, in keeping with Rose's generous spirit.
A private interment will take place at a later date.
As we bid farewell to Rose Shrout, we celebrate a life marked by love, resilience, and the joy of creation. Her memory will forever remain a guiding light in the hearts of those who knew and loved her.
