August 21, 1955 — March 3, 2026
It is with heavy hearts that we announce the peaceful passing of Rose Johnson Segars on March 3, 2026, after a long and brave battle with Alzheimer’s. Born on August 21, 1955, in West Bend, Wisconsin, Rose was a beacon of warmth and compassion, touching the lives of everyone she met.
A cherished daughter of the late Truman and Irene Kougl Johnson, Rose embodied the values of love, kindness, and generosity that her parents instilled in her from a young age. She was predeceased by her beloved parents, who she now joins in eternal rest.
Rose's life was marked by her unwavering devotion to her family, including her loving husband, Stanley Segars, whom she married on February 14, 2011, in Clearwater, Florida. Their union was a testament to enduring love and mutual respect, a partnership that brought joy and strength to both. She is survived by her children, son Joshua (Christy) Boswell of Hawaii and daughter Heather Scott of Austin, Texas, who were the pride and joy of her life. Her brother and sister-in-law, Josef (Nickie) Johnson of Flavilla, Georgia, along with her sisters Pat (Kim) Keffer of Varnell, Georgia, and Debra (Rick) Edmonsond of Rocky Face, Georgia, cherished her deeply.
Rose was also a treasured stepmother to Kurtis (Emily) of Kennesaw, Georgia, Andrew Segars of Athens, Tennessee, Tony Segars of Temple, Georgia, and Cory Segars of Tunnel Hill, Georgia. Her role as a grandmother brought her immense happiness, blessing her with grandchildren Gabby Boswell and Jasper Boswell of Hawaii, Gene and Henry Segars of Kennesaw, Georgia, and Coen Segars of Tunnel Hill, Georgia. She leaves behind numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and dear friends, including Joe and Debi Williams of Hixson, Tennessee, who were like family to her.
A graduate of St. Pete College with an Associate Degree in Business, Rose excelled in various roles throughout her career, spanning accounting, office management, and sales. Her professional life was characterized by diligence, integrity, and a commitment to excellence.
Rose was an active member of the Gulf Coast Community Church in St. Petersburg, Florida, where her faith was a guiding light. Her hobbies reflected her nurturing spirit; she loved crafting and was a passionate advocate for animals, especially her beloved puppies, Skippy and Yoda. Her philanthropic efforts included making care packages for the homeless in Tampa and supporting underprivileged children in eastern Kentucky. Rose's unselfish nature, loving demeanor, and quick acceptance of others endeared her to all who knew her.
In this time of mourning, the family extends a heartfelt thank you to Pam Keffer for her invaluable support and compassion, making Rose’s difficult journey a little easier.
A private funeral ceremony will be held to honor Rose's life, celebrating the remarkable woman she was and the legacy of love she leaves behind. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations be made to Alzheimer’s research or animal welfare organizations in Rose’s memory.
Rose Johnson Segars will forever be remembered as a fantastic mother, grandmother, wife, sister, and friend. Her gentle spirit and loving heart will be profoundly missed but never forgotten.
