Rosalie (Rosie) Brown Scarborough

Rosalie "Rosie" Brown Scarborough, a beloved and radiant soul, passed away peacefully on August 21, 2026, at Community Hospice, following several hospitalizations. Born on June 16, 1942, in Sarasota, Florida, Rosalie was a beacon of love and kindness throughout her life, touching the hearts of all who knew her. Rosalie was the cherished daughter of the late Alexander Galt Brown II and Mary Brown. She is predeceased by her parents, her brother Tom, and her adored pack of rescued dogs, including Sweet Pea. She leaves behind her precious Yorkie, Zoe, and a host of godchildren and countless dear friends, each of whom felt the warmth of her generous heart. Rosalie dedicated much of her life to helping others, both professionally and personally. She spent many years as an Administrative Office Assistant in the healthcare industry, serving hospitals and doctors in the Jacksonville, Florida area. Her professional life was marked by a commitment to excellence and a compassion that extended to all she encountered. Her dedication to service was also evident in her personal life. Rosalie was a devoted long term member of the Lakewood Presbyterian Church, Jacksonville, FL. She volunteered her time selflessly with organizations such as Meals on Wheels and Hubbard House. Her love for animals was profound, leading her to foster many dogs and shower them with care and affection. Rosalie's nurturing spirit and vibrant personality earned her the affectionate nickname "Sparkles," from her smart friend, Linda Allen who recognized Rosalie love of jewelry and her sparkling presence. In her personal time, Rosalie enjoyed collecting various items and indulging in shopping. She was known for her bright, infectious smile, which was as unmistakable as the pink lipstick she wore. Her social gatherings were often punctuated by laughter and a shared cucumber martini, a delightful nod to her zest for life. Though she did not have children of her own, Rosalie's life was abundant with love and meaningful relationships. Her godchildren and friends were her family, and she cherished each moment spent in their company. Her legacy is one of generosity, kindness, and a life lived with open arms and an open heart. In honor of Rosalie's enduring love for animals, donations in her memory can be made to the Jacksonville Humane Society, an organization that reflects her lifelong passion for animal welfare. Or the Hubbard House, another passion and cause close to Rosalie's heart. Rosalie "Rosie" Brown Scarborough will be deeply missed, but her spirit will continue to shine brightly in the hearts of all who were fortunate enough to know her. May her memory be a blessing and a comfort to those who loved her. The Neptune Society will be scattering her ashes in the Atlantic Ocean. There will be a Celebration of Life scheduled at Lakewood Presbyterian Church of Jacksonville, FL at a later date.
