Born on August 5, 1939, in Cape Girardeau, Missouri, Rosalie was the cherished daughter of Leroy Brewer and Mary Atline Soujourney Brewer. Her life was a vibrant tapestry of love, dedication, and selfless service.
Rosalie's early years were spent in the loving embrace of her family, alongside her siblings Eddie Abbott, John Abbott, Roosevelt Brewer, Isabel Louise Tolibeert, Virginia Brewer, Lanoura Brewer, Maggie Matthews, and Pauline Dean, all of whom predeceased her. The loss of her parents and siblings left profound imprints on her heart, yet she continued to embody resilience and grace throughout her life.
A devoted and nurturing mother, Rosalie is survived by her children: Mardillo Arnold, Milton Arnold Jr., Monalisa Arnold, Christine Arnold, and Charnae (Arnold) Ness. Her grandchildren and great-grandchildren were the radiant light of her later years, each carrying forward her legacy of love. Additionally, a host of nieces, nephews, and cousins treasured her guidance and strength, while the community she fostered reciprocated her warmth with lasting friendships.
Rosalie shared a remarkable journey of love and partnership with her late husband, Milton Arnold Sr., and later with her devoted partner, Johnny Willis. Together, they cultivated a family united by the philosophy of shared love and respect. Rosalie, Milton, and Johnny exemplified an extraordinary bond, raising their family with an unwavering commitment to one another's happiness and the collective well-being of their children.
Professionally, Rosalie dedicated her life to nurturing others. As a nurse, she brought care and compassion to hospitals and Quality Care, eventually transitioning to home care until her retirement. Her service to others continued as a Foster Grandparent at Central Community College, where she generously shared her wisdom with younger generations, leaving an indelible mark on all who crossed her path.
Rosalie was a beacon of compassion and hospitality, her home a sanctuary for those in need. She was deeply passionate about helping the unfortunate, offering a warm bed and hot meal to anyone who found themselves in hardship. Her home was forever filled with the comforting aroma of her culinary talents, from collard greens and fried chicken to rice, gravy, and her famous tacos. Her table was a place of acceptance and love, where every guest felt like family.
Beyond her immediate family, Rosalie leaves behind a multitude of friends, former patients, and those she welcomed into her heart, all of whom fondly remember her as "Mom Rose." Her spirit of generosity and acceptance will continue to inspire and guide those who knew her.
