Rosalie Elenore (Davis) Walker
September 20, 1929 — February 24, 2026
Rosalie Elenore (Davis) Walker, a beloved mother, sister, grandmother, and cherished friend, peacefully departed this world on February 24, 2026, embraced by the warmth of her daughters' presence. Born on September 20, 1929, in the town of Rumford, Maine, Rosalie was the daughter of Theodore and Eleanore (Cole) Davis.
Rosalie's life was a tapestry of love, resilience, and dedication. She graduated from Stephens High School in Rumford in 1948. It was in Rumford that she found not just her calling, but also her heart's companion, Donald Walker, whom she wed on February 21, 19. Together, they built a life filled with love and laughter, nurturing a beautiful family and leaving a legacy that will endure through generations.
Donald and Rosalie shared a passion for community and entrepreneurship, owning and operating the Caratunk General Store, where Rosalie also served as the dedicated Postmaster. Her career extended to the financial world, where she worked at The Casco Bay Bank in Rumford and the Merrill Trust Company in Bingham. Her professional endeavors were marked by integrity, commitment, and a genuine care for people.
Faith was a cornerstone of Rosalie's life. Raised in the nurturing environment of the Virgin Memorial Church in Rumford, she later became a devoted member of The First Congregational Church of Bingham. Her contributions to the church were many; she was a beloved Sunday School Teacher, a dedicated member of the Church Circle and Choir, and served faithfully as a Deaconess. Rosalie's spiritual journey was enriched by her membership in The Eastern Star, where she found friendship and a shared mission of benevolence.
Rosalie's heart was her family, a vibrant tapestry of love that she wove with her husband, Donald, and their five daughters: Linda Laweryson, Elizabeth Brochu, Rebecca Goodhue, Janet Melcher and her husband Daniel, and Nancy Harrill and her husband Jack. Her legacy lives on through her 29 grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren, each a testament to her enduring influence and love. Rosalie is also survived by her sister, Naomi Robertson, and her brother, Theodore Davis, along with a host of nieces and nephews who cherished her deeply.
Preceded in death by her husband, Donald; her cherished son-in-laws, James Brochu, Henry Goodhue, and Gary Laweryson; and her beloved grandson, Justin Goodhue, Rosalie's passing leaves a profound absence in the hearts of those who loved her.
Rosalie's life was a celebration of simple joys—cherished moments with family and friends filled her days with happiness and purpose. Her warmth and kindness were a beacon of light to all who knew her.
A service to honor Rosalie's remarkable life will be held on March 21, 2026, at 11:00 AM at the First Congregational Church of Bingham, located at 7 Meadow Street, Bingham, Maine. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations be made to the First Congregational Church Sunday School Fund, ensuring that Rosalie's legacy of faith and education continues to inspire future generations.
The Walker family extends their heartfelt gratitude to the staff at Lakewood Continuing Care Center and Beacon Hospice for their exceptional care and compassion during Rosalie's final days.
As we remember Rosalie, let us celebrate a life beautifully lived, rich in love and service, and find comfort in the memories we hold dear. May her gentle soul rest in eternal peace.
