Rosa Scaggs
October 10, 1955 — June 6, 2026
In loving memory, we celebrate the life of Rosa Scaggs, a woman of remarkable spirit and grace, who passed away peacefully on June 6, 2026, after a courageous battle with Alzheimer's disease. Born on October 10, 1955, in the vibrant city of Cali, Colombia, Rosa illuminated the lives of all who knew her with her boundless love and infectious joy.
Rosa was the cherished daughter of Leonidas and Josephina, who nurtured her gentle spirit and instilled in her the values of compassion and resilience. Her father, Leonidas, preceded her in death, and we take comfort in knowing they are now reunited.
A dedicated scholar, Rosa pursued her education with vigor and graduated with a bachelor's degree in Economics from the esteemed University of X. Her academic journey was a testament to her dedication and thirst for knowledge. Rosa's professional life was spent working in her father's business, where she was not only a key figure in the company's success but also a beloved colleague who inspired those around her with her integrity and work ethic.
Beyond her professional endeavors, Rosa found immense joy in dancing, a passionate hobby that brought her happiness throughout her life. Whether it was a rhythmic salsa or a gentle waltz, Rosa's love for dance was a reflection of her vibrant spirit and zest for life.
Rosa is survived by her beloved son, Jose Ibarra, who was the pride and joy of her life. Her former husband and dedicated caregiver, Ignacio Scaggs, remained a steadfast presence in her life, providing unwavering love and support during her illness. Though she did not have grandchildren or great-grandchildren, Rosa's nurturing spirit touched many young lives, leaving an indelible mark on all who knew her.
The family wishes to extend their heartfelt gratitude to the Hartford Healthcare Hospice staff and organization for their compassionate care and support during Rosa's illness. Their dedication brought comfort and dignity to Rosa's final days.
As we remember Rosa Scaggs, we celebrate a life filled with love, laughter, and a legacy that will forever be cherished. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations be made to organizations supporting Alzheimer's research, in hope of a future where fewer families face this challenging journey.
Rosa's life was a beautiful dance, and though she has left the floor, the music of her spirit will continue to play in our hearts forever.
