December 9, 1938 — October 1, 2026

Rosa Mae Boyd , a beloved mother , grandmother and friend who departed this world peacefully on October 1, 2026, at Chestnut Hill Hospital. Born on December 9, 1938, in a close- knit community of Fuquay-Varina, North Carolina. Rosa was the cherised daughter of the late Tom and Rose Ann (Cozart) Cook. Her life was marked by love, laughter, and an unwavering dedication to her family. On August 12, 1968, Rosa married Solomon Boyd, in a beautiful ceremony in Baltimore, Maryland. Their union was a testament to enduring love, lasting 48 joyful years until Solomon's passing in 2016. Rosa’s early years were shaped by the nurturing environment of the Fuquay - Varina School Schools System, where she received her education. At an early age she accepted Jesus Christ as her Lord and Savior. She loved to sing with her family choir in the family church. Her innate talents led her to a career as a seamstress at Rifkin Lingerie Company in the late 1980s and early 1990s. She later transferred to environmental services at the United States Naval Base in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, where her meticulous nature and strong work ethic were invaluable. Rosa was predeceased by her cherished husband, sister (Mildred) granddaughter (Quiana,) and her devoted parents. Her legacy, however, continues to shine brightly through her surviving family members: her daughters, Sharon Bailey and Lisa Lenon; her son, Solomon Boyd III; sons-in-law, Carl Bailey and Dennis W. Lenon; step-sister, Rosalee Cook; and step-brothers, Leroy and Roland Cook. Rosa's family tree flourished with ten grandchildren—Nasir, Ayesha, Zakiyah, Lamont, Monique, Denisha, Samirah, and Ciani—along with twenty-three great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren, who were her pride and joy. Her extended family includes a host of loving nephews, nieces, cousins, and friends. Rosa was known for her quick wit and infectious smile, always ready with a joke to brighten any room. She delighted in life's simple pleasures, often gathering friends and family to play cards, especially her favorite game, "pitty pack." Her adventurous spirit led her to the casino, where she tried her luck with joy, and she never missed an opportunity to scratch off a lottery ticket in hopeful anticipation. Rosa's presence was a gift to those who knew her, and her joy was truly contagious. Her spirit will forever live on in the hearts of her family and friends. As we celebrate her life, we are reminded of the warmth and laughter she brought into our lives.
