Roosevelt Jones, Jr., born on October 15, 1946, in Chicago, Illinois, to late Roosevelt and Carlee Jones. Roosevelt grew up on 15th and Christiana and attended elementary school at St. Agatha Catholic School. He attended high school at St. Phillip, Harrison and Marshall High School where he played basketball at each school. He graduated from Marshall High School and further his education at Crane Jr. College as a basketball star. He grew up in a vibrant household alongside his siblings, Patricia, Lionel, Larry, Cercelia, Cheri, and Debra. He shared a special bond with each of his siblings, always ensuring that laughter and joy were abundant in their lives. In Maywood, Illinois, Roosevelt married the love of his life, Felita Moore. Together, they built a beautiful life filled with love and happiness. Their union blended five wonderful children, Monique, Kenyetta Sr., Quinton, Tiffany, Ambria, and goddaughter D'elegance Lane . Roosevelt's family was his pride and joy, and he relished his role as a doting grandfather. Roosevelt dedicated his professional career to Elmhurst University in Elmhurst, Illinois, where he worked diligently until his retirement. As a service specialist, Roosevelt won several awards during his tenure at Elmhurst University. His commitment to his work was matched only by his passion for sports, particularly basketball and football. Sundays and Mondays were sacred, as they were reserved for watching games and discussing every play with his little sister, Patricia and his son Kenyetta. His ultimate sports experience was when his son Quinton, took him to see the Bears at Soldier Field. Roosevelt was dedicated to working out and believed in healthy living. Known for his sharp dressing, infectious laugh, and radiant smile, Roosevelt was a man of many talents and interests. He was an active member of his community, volunteering and participating in various organizations such as Cease Fire. Roosevelt was a dedicated catholic and active at St. Agatha. As a member of the church, he treasured being an altar boy. His close relationship with Father Mallette was unmatched. Their relationship lasted from childhood until Father Mallette went on to be with the Lord in 2017. Roosevelt Jones, Jr., was a beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle and friend. He passed away peacefully on September 3, 2026, at the age of 79. Roosevelt was preceded by his beloved son Quinton, his parents Roosevelt, Sr. and Carlee Jones, his brothers Lionel and Larry (Joyce Moore), his sister Cercelia, his grandparents Nathaniel and Mattie Sharkey, Paul and Hattie Jones, Aunts Eliza Strickland, Spicie (the late Napoleon) Belk, and Nancy (the late William) Payne, Uncles Lindsay "Buck" Collins and Joe Jones. He leaves behind his devoted wife Felita, his children Monique, Kenyetta Sr., Tiffany, and Ambria, goddaughter D'elegance Lane, his grandchildren Kenyatta, Jr., Kenya, Keyania, Kentrell, Malayzia, Jakhari, Amere, Ni'kylah, Nehemiah, Veronica, and Divine, his sisters Patricia (the late Richard) Barlow, Cheri (the late Larry) Pennington, and Debra (Clifford) Pullman, sister in-laws Jeannie (the late Robert), Janice (Billy), Jetante "Vet", brother-in laws Calvin (Rachel), Clifford (Emily), Mitchell, his beloved niece who he shared a special bond with, LaVenta Barlow, close friend Joseph "Joe" Perry, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and dear friends. Roosevelt will be deeply missed but forever cherished in the hearts of those who loved him. His legacy of kindness, laughter, and unwavering support will continue to inspire and uplift us all.
